I finally left royal mail

I started Royal Mail 5 years ago.

When I got the job offer I was so excited to start, I never though I would leave and I would stay forever.

When I started, I got trained up for a week then stayed on the same round for 2 months, the office was cleared every day and I loved it. But as time went on and especially after covid the work load got more and more and the company got worse and worse, making it almost impossible to complete within the time, more absorption/lapsing, more parcels, less appreciation from managers etc.

Then the office started filling with agency staff who got basically no training which Royal Mail are to blame for, the morale of workers got worse and almost everyone you spoke to would complain about the company and wanted out. And my attitude got worse about work.

About 6 months ago I decided I didn’t want to work here anymore as I started to hate it, everyday I was getting so stressed and found myself getting angry while working there.

I now have a new job that I am much happier in.
While working at Royal Mail I met some of the most amazing people, some of the craziest people and some absolute nutters haha. I love you all. II don't miss the job, but I really do miss some of my co-workers from Royal Mail.

So yeah in short there is life outside of Royal Mail, I did it and so can you.
I still follow closely what’s happening with the CWU and pray you all get the pay rise you all deserve because I know how hard you all work and how under appreciated you are.

Wow that’s sounds a lot like me. 5 years service and remember coming back one day and saying I’ll retire in this job. And now I’ve left for another job. In the meantime I got depressed with the situation and didn’t think I could get another job. Anyway I start Monday. Good luck to all the posties, fight the good fight and I’ll always support you.

Yep, just over 25 years for me. I left in early 2021 and haven't looked back once, best thing I did by a country mile. I had no idea when I left that things would (or even could) get as bad as they are now.

I hate to see my ex colleagues going through this sh1t, every time I see and speak to any of them you can see they are at the end of their tether, mostly caused by a minority in their pursuit of greed.

To those who are determined to keep clinging onto the sinking ship...I really do wish you luck, because even in a years time this company - if it is still here by then - will be completely unrecognisable.

I left to work for a tractor dealership in the parts dept.

I delivered there post and did the interviews on strike days , keep your eyes open the jobs are out there , possibly you won't get the same pay but more weekends off and more flexibility with holiday are also decent selling points.

Left over a year ago. Now 9-5 in an office doing admin. Pay a lot better. Conditions a lot better. Benefits a lot better. No lapsing, D2Ds, ridiculous workloads or absolute fatigue at the end of every day. Get out of there if you can, it's like a Victorian workhouse and getting worse. Run into the ground for profit by utter scumbags.

It's true guys the grass is greener, there's no good reason to remain at royal mail any longer, they have stripped all of the best things about the job and now all that's left is unrealistic workloads, pressure coming from up high and the pay isn't that great. Maybe the best thing they have left to offer is amount of holidays, but that will be gone once RM goes into admin. I'd start looking elsewhere now, sooner out of it the better!
