ive been off work due to my back for over 6 months and have decided to leave the business because it isnt improving.ive been with the company for 25 years.do i have to give any notice because health wise im in no position to return

I would stay off sick until they make you the ihr offer

Speak to your manager and union rep about getting a referral for IHR.

If you are not fit to return as you say because of health wise then keep putting in sick lines.
Do not leave for free the IHR process can take a while a be frustrating but eventually it will come to a conclusion.
The longest it took one of our members to get IHR was 973 days but we got there.
I have dealt with over 50 in my time some take very little time some take ages.
