Displacement/Re Pick Trumps Seniority?

Hoping a Rep or someone who knows what they are talking about can help as my Rep is maybe wrong but maybe not!

Office has lost the dedicated parcel/oversize duties - all parcels gone back onto walks and 2 or 3 people have lost their duties due to collapsing the walks.

A few walks have gone up to be signed for, some due to VR and some that were vacant but never went up for whatever reason.

Rep has said no matter how long they have been at RM the displaced people get first pick over anyone else, now that seems not right to me but what do I know.

Anyone know the correct answer?

Those who have had their pick taken off them in the recent shenanigans, have the right to select a vacant walk. If they don’t pick a vacant walk, then they become a reserve and have to apply for walks along with everyone else.

Displacement trumps seniority.

Still non the wiser, why would they put it up on the noticeboard out off interest rather than go to the displaced people only and then go in seniority order?

Fair enough then but why put it up for all to see and not go to the affected people first? Seems odd to advertise it to all that's all.

Either the three displaced people have already rejected the vacant walks which were available, or the manager has done the process wrong and stuck it on the board when the walks should have been offered to the displaced first.

Exactly, that's the bit I don't understand offer it to them first I'm sure they would take them as most want to know what they are doing day in day out.

In total there is around 10 displaced including the Parcel guys n gals + the walks that have been collapsed.

I think I'll throw my hat in the ring and see what happens, can only say no I suppose.

Only an existing duty holder can be displaced so your post makes no sense.

Why not? the displaced (now former) duty holders of the now gone DPR - they got rid of the Parcel duties just over a month ago COM took it upon himself to do this, easiest way to save hours he said regardless of seniority - I know some who have been here 12 mths will now get 1st pick of these duties, wrong in my opinion but there you go.

No worries pal, two for displacement then, anyway like I've said elsewhere they have now updated the noticeboard stating displaced get 1st pick now.
