How long before you can pick a different duty?

I’ve been holding my current duty for six months, and some better ones have became vacant with the recent VR. I thought you had to work six months on a duty before being allowed to show interest in a new vacancy, but I’ve been told it is now 12 months. Is this correct? Many thanks

But you said you only picked yours 6 months ago? At the time of picking was it advertised as temporary pending the future revisions? They were at ours. That might give you a bit of leeway.

I'm pretty sure you're just cracking/referencing an in-joke mate, but just for clarity for our less experienced colleagues..... that's absolutely untrue .
While we all know Doms do look after their mates, they won't shoe-in their mates to a duty they are not entitled to apply for.
If they actually tried this, it's an easy solve for any postie who's lost out on a vacant duty due to the Doms behaviour.

Yes but some are more equal than others

It is 12 months unless the duty being advertised is a new duty then the 12 month tour of duty doesn’t apply and open to everyone.
Also if the duty being advertised is a specialist post and assuming yours is a core skill duty then you can apply as no tour of duty applies when moving from a core skill duty to a specialist post duty.
