Have all Voluntary Redundancies Been Finalised?

Post by Revolutionary1 »

Our Manager has told those that have asked that we did not have any VR’s at out office due to being so understaffed. I want to know if all VRs have now been finalised and what is the official stance on this?

I don’t know but I wish we’d get more info and not kept in the dark.

The Union has tried to obtain information from RMG about those that have accepted VR, more detailed information as to RMG’s plans regarding VR and any changes since their original announcement about this. RMG has failed to provide this information.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

We've heard nothing at all about VRs at the MC where I work, and nothing about the large number of CRs there are supposed to be as well. At a guess, I think they've probably had so many applications, and not all from the people they most want to lose, that their little brains are struggling to come up with a workable plan.

They all sent out the details by email to the intended takers. Most just hit the spam box of the emails.

No actual letters were sent out. Then it just ran out past the final date given so many intended takers of VR have missed out.

The words party, brewery, and unable to do so, springs to mind.

It would also have to have gone through their COM too. It can't all be done via an email. You have to talk it through and their are papers to sign.

All the com does is confirm you are interested in vr and emails the severance team, You sign the papers electronically after a phone consultation with a solicitor.

The rumour around the MC is that the VRs have been cancelled as the company cannot afford them. No-one wants to talk about CRs. But a revised duty schedule has been posted and one-to-ones regarding people's preferences or availability are expected to start soon. As the number of duties on offer is far lower than the number of staff it remains to be seem what the company has in mind for those of us who refuse to attend one-to-ones, or who simply cannot adjust their lives to fit what will be on offer. It's looking a bit like fire and rehire via the back door, so not sure if even statutory redundancy will be given to those who will be leaving. At the moment the union seems to be nowhere on this.
