The Royal Mail lies on priortising parcels over letters

Post by POSTMAN »

“Royal Mail does not operate a policy of prioritising parcels. We regularly remind colleagues that the delivery, collection and processing of letters and parcels should be treated with equal importance.

“Due to the amount of space they take up, parcels can restrict the movement of both people and mail in our offices, leading to health and safety issues and delays to other mail.

“At particularly busy times, such as in the recovery days after a strike, we may occasionally at a local level clear parcels to free up space and address health and safety concerns so that we can keep all mail – including letters – moving efficiently through our network.”

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Almost a month since the last strike day and yet we are still told to prioritise tracked parcels, especially the ASOS as we have to win the contract back .

Perhaps if we moved the trayed mail out of the way there would be more room for parcels.

They can’t even make the lies make sense.
If it’s a health and safety issue, why aren’t we prioritising the largest items and not just tracked which can include A5 sized Amazon envelopes, for example. ?

They know we know it’s bollocks.

I didn't even know we had a contract with ASOS in the past. I've rarely delivered anything ASOS over the years I have worked for Royal Mail, if ever. When I've ordered from ASOS it's always been another courier delivering it, not RM.

Just be very careful on this one - Thompson has now said (before a Parliamentary Select Committee, AND on national live TV) that company policy is that all mail is of equal importance, if your DOM says to prioritise certain products he may totally deny it if the brown stuff hits the rotating blade and his head is on the block for contravening company policy......depends if you get on with the DOM I suppose?

I'm actually wondering if this is a very crafty move by Thompson and Co to increase disciplinaries and sackings...?

Get the DOM or manager to put the instruction in writing then if the s**t hits the fan, your ass is covered

I'd love a youtube montage of covert recordings of managers instructing us what and where is priority. There would be thousands upon thousands but I bet not one would be "make sure you take all the first class mail".

What’s getting to me is that managers have been telling us for several YEARS to ‘just do the tracked’ and then Thompson denied it at the committee and the managers know he lied and have yet to mention anything to us about this thing they have been telling us to do for years
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

All you need is a witness, I make sure everyday when the Com is giving out his instructions that my duty partner or someone on the next frame witnesses the instructions then your covered.
