From the new contract of employment.
“Hours of Work / Overtime
9.1 Subject to Clause 9.2 of this statement, your weekly hours of work will be 25.00 (excluding meal breaks). It is anticipated that Royal Mail will move to a Seasonal Hours ("SH") and / or Yearly Flexible Hours ("YFH") system at which point these terms and conditions will be varied and your annual hours of work will be 2080 (excluding meal breaks).
By signing this contract you are also agreeing to the change from weekly hours to a SH and/ or YFH working basis when that change is introduced. We will give you at least one months' notice of a change to Seasonal Hours and/ or Yearly Flexible Hours.
Core hours of work are 6am to 10pm Monday to Sunday. It is anticipated for full time hours you will work 5 days in every 7, pro-rata for part-time. Your scheduled duty attendance times will be allocated to you by your line manager. However, these hours may change from time to time after giving you reasonable notice. Actual hours will be confirmed up to 24 hours before shift. You will be subject to the Attendance Policy/ Procedure, as amended from time to time, which is set out on the Policy and Information Site and on the People App. To the extent there is any inconsistency between this contract and the Business Transformation Agreement and/ or any other collective agreements on hours of work which are applicable to you, this contract takes precedence (unless you are notified otherwise in writing).
9.2 Royal Mail has the responsibility of providing a public service. This puts a special obligation on all employees to play their part in maintaining the kind of service that the public has a right to expect. The nature of the service makes a measure of additional hours and overtime working necessary. For this reason, it is a conditionof your employment that you are liable to work additional hours and overtime and to attend at varying times on any day (including weekends and public bank holidays) as the needs of the service demand.
Overtime pay will be paid at a rate of 1.25 (1.5 for public bank holidays in the country where you work).
9.3 SH mean your weekly hours will fluctuate depending on seasonal peaks and troughs of work and will be notified to you by a written roster sent by or on behalf of your line manager. It is anticipated that in the future we will operate a YFH working system, the rules of which will be available on the Policy and Information Site. In accordance, with the rules of YFH you may be required to work additional hours to those rostered, as required in accordance with the needs of the business, which you will be permitted to take as time off at a later date as determined by your line manager in accordance with the needs of the business. In addition, you may work less hours than rostered, and you will be required to undertake the additional hours not worked at another time as determined by your line manager in accordance with the needs of the business.”

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
