RMCtv : Update on CWU talks - changes to proposals on certain allowances

This week we have restarted talks at Acas following agreement with the CWU to enter a time-bound period of refreshed discussion and negotiation from 9 – 20 January.

We have discussed a number of topics and although there continue to be sticking points, we are hopeful progress can be made.

We are listening: our offer to the CWU to change proposals on certain allowances

We have listened to employee feedback, and we have heard the concerns about the proposed removal of three allowances in particular – Regional Recruitment Incentive Scheme (RRIS), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Sunday premium.

So, as part of talks this week, the most important thing to share with you is that we have offered to keep the RRIS, TPM and Sunday Premium allowances for all existing staff who currently receive them.

With CWU agreement, we can make these changes to the allowances proposals within the money allocated to our ‘best and final’ offer. As such, we are able to offer them without impacting the overall affordability of the deal.

We are serious about getting a deal that can bring an end to these damaging strikes and put a pay rise in your pocket without any further delay.
We look forward to holding further talks with the CWU at Acas next week and will keep you as updated as much as we are able to.

Update for Royal Mail Group Members - Win the ballot, win the dispute.

Late yesterday, Royal Mail Group confirmed to the union in our talks that they were prepared to drop their proposals on RRIS payments, TPM allowance and Sunday Premium Payments for duty holders.

This latest move by Royal Mail Group on allowances, coming on top of their no compulsory redundancy statement, signals the end of their so called “best and final offer” – make no mistake your tremendous support for your trade union has delivered this.

In the lead up to and throughout the period of our second ballot, we can expect to see more of this approach from the company.

You know this dispute is not just about single issues – there remains a raft of huge issues to resolve and at its core the dispute is about securing your job, pay, terms and conditions and the future of the company, alongside the services we provide to the public.

We will continue to meet Royal Mail Group in the coming days and weeks – but it’s clear the only way we will deliver an agreement is by emphatically winning the second ballot.

It’s simple - we win the ballot – we win the dispute. The focus of the whole union and every member must now be to deliver another massive turnout and YES vote.

Yeah I noticed that blatant lie from the union. The end of the best and final offer would be a proper 9% deal backdated to April and all the change demands up for negotiation, not a few crumbs thrown by Royal Mail. The union do themselves no favours with this “solidarity and we will win this dispute” bullshit.

The best and final offer ended ages ago, what we on now version 5 or 6? Call it what u want but it keeps changing.

Honestly I doubt it’s a mistake. The union are all about bigging themselves up and over exaggerating progress even when it crashes head on with reality.
