Since July of this year Businesses are allowed to use Agencies to cover strike work

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

So why aren't they on deliveries? After all, we are told through war stories that people would be glad to take our jobs at half our pay.

I personally think its part of a strategy by Simon Thompson, but why aren't the press all over this, from both sides of the Political spectrum.

Talking with angard workers, they regular get emails asking if they wish to work in deliveries, especially on strike days.

The number one response is that they do it once, never again as they are exploited and abused by not only delivery managers, but contracted staff as well who see them as something to wipe off their feet.

I did five hours of parcels the other day instead of five hours of walking. It’s nothing like the same job, I was sat on my arse half the time, and stood at doors for a quarter.

Thompson comparing our pay to other couriers and making out we should be grateful is a scam. If it was the same they KNOW they wouldn’t retain the staff. I wasn’t knackered at all when I got home.

Was talking to a postie in London the other day, he has a lot of flats on his round, letter boxes on ground floor, you then go up by lift to all the floors with parcels if the lift is working, writing out a 739 if no one is in. But on the ground floor next to the letter boxes, other companies just leave the parcels, big time difference by doing this. But not for much longer everyone in the blocks are going mad has parcels are been stolen.police involved, someone waiting in a car for these parcel companies and following them in and when they go so do the parcels.

Don’t you have to be security cleared to handle letters? Maybe that is why.

Doorstepping outside a block of flats is nuts. Companies using these couriers must be looking to switch to other providers… oh

Those war soldiers would be grateful to work 9-5 as a postie on £7 an hour living in a one room shack don’t you know…

Just spent the last 40mins watching two agency staff frantically running, and slipping, whilst carrying trays of packets, around my street. No idea of the logic to carrying a tray round a street. My street is tiny, btw, it's just a small crescent. They've been called back twice for what I can only imagine is taking the wrong item to the wrong address. And, I've watched one forcing something into a letterbox, realising it won't go in, and trying to pull it back out again. It looked like he was ripping the door of its hinges. It's just hanging out the door now. They've been parked in front my kind neighbours drive all that time. It would be comical to watch under any other circumstance. If this is stereotypically what dealing with the disruption looks like, I wouldn't bother. My heart sank when I seen that van, firstly because I'd didn't want to see a familiar face get out of it, and secondly I thought they were gonna be a tight, well oiled operation, they've done about 10 houses. There wasn't and it wasn't, I don't feel so bad now.

Royal Mail have got what they wanted....

Parcels being prioritised and getting delivered for the most part whilst letters are neglected even more and are now being delivered 3 days a week. Meanwhile they don't have to pay workers while we strike, but still clear tracked/large parcels....

With these strikes Royal Mail have become the parcel company Thompson wants.

But who called the strikes during the festive season?

Small business are angry as it was the only way to secure revenue lost during the pandemic. How many staff are going to lose their jobs in these small businesses because of the strikes.

Striking during December was never a good option with public relations, especialy at christmas
