Re: Backlog
Judging by the photos that have been posted and assuming that they are typical of MCs around the kingdom, I would say parcels must be in the high millions.
Letters? People don't really do letters anymore. That's why we're a parcel company. So maybe a dozen!
lmfao

Re: Backlog
Must have about two and a half thousand minimum in my frame, similar on the partner duty. The frames next to ours are worse. Small packets up top everywhere.

Re: Backlog
Best guess is around a week's backlog? The problem is whilst the company is basically shut for two days PO's etc will still be accepting parcels so the backlog will be growing, unless customers are now turning to other couriers in large numbers. I guess the bigger question is how many Christmas cards and parcels will still be stuck in the system when the next strike starts on the 23rd?? The last posting day should have been last week not the 16th.Slim2none wrote: ↑14 Dec 2022, 21:26Judging by the photos that have been posted and assuming that they are typical of MCs around the kingdom, I would say parcels must be in the high millions.

Re: Backlog
Thing is, by bringing forward the last posting date, people reacted and posted early… for it all to come in across a period of four strike days close together.TopperGas wrote: ↑14 Dec 2022, 21:34Best guess is around a week's backlog? Re: Backlog
We need a meme of Simon Thompson saying 'We are now a parcel company'.... meanwhile an avalanche of letters is coming down the hill from a mountain called Mount Pleasant and twatting him in the face.

Re: Backlog
Someone raging on Twitter today that ‘our tracked parcels from 24th November have yet to be scanned’… they can’t track their tracked mail! So that mail is 3 weeks old & still lost in the pipeline.
A colleague who works in Customer Claims says some units will only be processing what they collect on the day for T24 and T48, as those are the only items they can possibly clear on time. In essence, they are leaving the stuff that’s already late and trying to stop the backlog from getting bigger

Re: Backlog
In our post office, verrry quiet, I’ve never known a Christmas like it, we had about ten bags of post at the end of today, we’d usually have more than that per collection at Christmas, think it’s a combination of the strikes, the weather, and that everyone is skint, but who knows, even area manager said it’s been an odd week
