I’d like to know if Royal Mail employees are still exempt from attending jury service.
Or had this stopped now.

Re: Jury duty.
I think 25 years ago Christmas pressure exempted you.
Your manager could send a letter explaining that you could not be released from your role during that period.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

How times change. We must have been considered as important back then.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑14 Dec 2022, 07:51I think 25 years ago Christmas pressure exempted you.

Re: Jury duty.
No exemption and be careful of your wages during this time.
Jury service is less money - so when you claim your allowances, its not as much as you would have been paid at RM.
RM then claw their money back and you could be left with a shortfall.

I was on Jury couple of weeks back, and didn't have to claim anything. Bosses put it through as jury service and was paid.

Re: Jury duty.
It is possible to defer jury service, or be excused from it altogether but only in exceptional circumstances:

Re: Jury duty.
Thanks Scotboyblue, I was going back probably 4 years when I did jury service.
A nice guy from wages at Sheffield explained everything to me at that time, but maybe they have since changed the payment system for the better.
