Looking at this wrong
I’m a local rep and yesterday was speaking with my com, I know we are not engaging with RM at the moment but I was picking my managers brains (
) , these revisions that are being forced through are not what people think they are, my members are telling me they don’t have any time to have additional delivery added, they are looking at this wrong, Royal Mail don’t care if you can clear your frame every day, parcels are the priority and you will just fail a different part of the frame each day, the latest estimates they are using to get this is that mail will decline by 14% next year! I can only guess this new way of working is to “prove” to ofcom we can’t cope with letters any more, but surely a decline in letters will make us more efficient if not more profitable and here lies the problem, it’s all about the money

Re: Looking at this wrong
So Royal Mail increase the cost of first and second class stamps, then deliberately refuse to honour the terms of purchase. The USO.
There by causing customers not to use, or pay for a service that they won't receive. Effectively, Royal Mail create the decline of a service that they are obliged to provide.
A scam and a scandal.

Wonder how much money they’re losing from uncanceled stamps
Got them everyday -all year round - in every bundle
Also had parcels with £3-4 worth of stamps on
if that’s every duty - how many duties on delivery?
Bet most of us don’t look at the stamps!!!

Haven't offcom recently said they're going to start fining us for (lack of) quality of service? Taking a walk out every other day would constitute that wouldn't it?Clairedarep wrote: ↑13 Dec 2022, 04:14I’m a local rep and yesterday was speaking with my com, I know we are not engaging with RM at the moment but I was picking my managers brains () , these revisions that are being forced through are not what people think they are, my members are telling me they don’t have any time to have additional delivery added, they are looking at this wrong, Royal Mail don’t care if you can clear your frame every day, parcels are the priority and you will just fail a different part of the frame each day, the latest estimates they are using to get this is that mail will decline by 14% next year! The revisions just like last year will be designed to fail ,RM are not interested in the USO or interested in you.

That’s why we’re fighting to save our jobs and the service . Surely Ofcom should be investigating this.

The reduction in letters has been talked about for years, if the forecast declines were true there would be any. I dont know how RM come with their figures, some kind of modelling but I wouldnt trust them

Re: Looking at this wrong
Under the commit to deliver proposal and banking of hours, increasing the size of every delivery will force a lot of posties out. Everyone has seen how it’s scared a lot of people enough with the over subscription for VR.
The decline in mail they constantly bang on about doesn’t include DSA. Also don’t forget d2d’s are classed as live mail. It’s scary the amount of workload posties are expected to do in future and no wonder loads are having mental health problems. Royal Mail management don’t care and yet they have a duty of care for your physical and mental health! What a joke!
I believe in the modernisation of RM but all I’ve seen is larger workloads over the years and managers bullying and harassing posties to get it done. For those moaning about the union, if it wasn’t for the union those managers would be getting their way each and every day.
As for money? It’s always been about the money because It’s a business and a badly run one at that from top to bottom.
Keep fighting for your right to be treated like a human being and not a mail donkey with zero rights and zero future.

PSM in our place doesn't have a revenue selection, so unless an underpaid item gets spotted and pulled out (people don't have time, realistically) anything goes.
Also out of course DSA just goes through, so we're actually giving money to our competitors!!
But don't forget it's our fault we're losing money, not the halfwits in charge.

Pity we can can't get these Fraudsters Investigated, Tried and Imprisioned. If you, or I, Defrauded someone out of a couple of hundred quid I'm sure we'd end up in the nick. Con a whole Nation ... and you get away with it!

Re: Looking at this wrong
Some of us still check them. I've never knowingly delivered an unfranked letter .... I don't work for FREE.
In Delivery you've got 3 shots at cancelling an unfranked stamp:
1) On the IPS when you're sorting (doesn't happen a lot because ..."It's not MY duty so why should I care")
2) When you're throwing your duty off into the Frame.
3) When you're carrying out your Doorstep Check.
You know damn well people are just going to peel off unfranked stamps and use them again. Some are so blatant ... you've got a stamp on a Red Background that they've cut off the envelope and stuck it on a White Envelope FFS!
