Christmas eve on the picket line - will you be there?

Post by mattick »

I know some offices will be lucky enough to be buried away in the middle of an industrial estate. But I'm guessing most offices are like mine are situated in town.

I'm expecting a lot of angry frustrated customers will be showing up in the vein hope of retrieving their items, only to turn on those picketing for their ruined xmas. Screw that!

They should have ordered earlier.

Strikes have been going on for months now. Only a moron wouldn't realise that.

Ignore any of those people.

Yes I will. With some sausage rolls and mince pies.

Royal Mail are letting the public down, not the workforce.

A couple of hours on the picket line, then off home to enjoy Christmas with the family.

Too right I'll be there.

Looking forward to a festive, party atmosphere with plenty of gallows humour. Making the best of a sorry lot, hunched around the fire with comrades I will have spent 15 days by then doing the same.

If members of the public want to moan about missing or delayed parcels then good luck to 'em. I'll offer them a swig from my hip flask and then tell them all about the money I've lost standing up to Thompson and for this service.

Top picket line tip....I normally find informing them that if RM get their way then all callers offices will be closed usually does the trick to get them onside.

Joe Public generally doesn't give a s**t about your wages or t&c's, but tell them there won't be a place for them to collect their precious parcels and they're suddenly wishing you good luck and punching the air like Che Guevara.
Sooner or later, a beat dog bites.

I’ll be walking past the picket again. I’m not expecting it to be too busy on Christmas Eve.

We've done our job on the picket lines this last 2 months. There will be plenty more strike days to come.

Get there early Christmas Eve, show solidarity, wish everybody all the very best but get home soon afterwards and be with your families.

I think the public who have left it last minute were (like a lot of us) expecting some form of resolution to the dispute before this point.

No, I'm a lightweight. Will go on the 23rd but I'm going to enjoy Xmas eve away from work and everyone associated with it. It's not often I get to spend it with family so not passing up this chance.
