24th
As far as I know the union has been quiet about the implications of us striking on the 24th. As we know rm could legaly sack people for being out .
So I'm wondering what people's thoughts are .
Should the union cancel the 24th.
Will you be to scared to strike that day .etc
I myself will stay out but I think alot of people will be in two minds.

Re: 24th
If that were true the union would have reballoted the members before then. As it stands the reballot is scheduled for January 16th?Sputters wrote: ↑11 Dec 2022, 14:18As far as I know the union has been quiet about the implications of us striking on the 24th. The law say's he can do it, you wouldn't actually be out of a job, firing 115,000 workers is not very practical, if he does anything he will present you a new contract. Am I worried? Not in the slightest, There is a legal process where you can sign it under protest and the dispute goes on. Anyone who thinks 115,000 people will get their P45 on the 24th and worrying over nothing.

Re: 24th
I don’t think it will go ahead either, The operation will be so f’d up by then that the union will have no option but to call them off to keep the public onside. At least we’ll look like heroes, trying to save Christmas
. Union just playing poker with the 23rd and 24th dates, in my opinion.

Been in the job 33 years and this will be the best Christmas break in all that time. I don’t want anything to spoil it like accepting a deal with strings. We want an inflation busting pay rise, no compulsory redundancies, and definitely no later starts. It’s been said before they won’t sack the entire workforce so stop fretting and enjoy your break.

Re: 24th
Pissed off with people at my office who are saying that they will be going in on 23rd & 24th as they don’t think it’s fair on their customers not to be receiving post on those dates. Looking at those saying it I’m not so sure that they’re actually more worried about collecting up the last of their tips.
I have said to them that I doubt very much they’ll be delivering their usual walks as they’ll be out across the office doing Tracked & Specials to which they’ve coughed & spluttered saying that they’ll try and persuade the boss to let them concentrate on their own walks!!

Being given one of the new contracts seriously your not bothered,we’ve been striking for a few extra pounds and we stand to loose 20% paySurreypostie wrote: ↑11 Dec 2022, 14:41The law say's he can do it, you wouldn't actually be out of a job, firing 115,000 workers is not very practical, if he does anything he will present you a new contract. Seriously yes, I'm not even slightly bothered. There is nothing I can do to change the situation, if he does he does and if he doesn't great. He himself has said, there will be no fire and rehire. So no, I am not even slightly bothered. I am not going to give myself stress worrying about something that may or may not happen. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt etc.Mick100 wrote: ↑11 Dec 2022, 16:06Being given one of the new contracts seriously your not bothered,we’ve been striking for a few extra pounds and we stand to loose 20% paySurreypostie wrote: ↑11 Dec 2022, 14:41The law say's he can do it, you wouldn't actually be out of a job, firing 115,000 workers is not very practical, if he does anything he will present you a new contract. Oh, and I no longer know to be quite honest what I am striking for, when I voted yes for IA it was to get a no strings payrise. Now it has turned into No compulsory redundancies. I wish I knew what the union was prepared to put infront of us to vote on. I have no idea.
