Zareena Says
Industrial action – the impact on annual leave
The Time Off Work Procedure makes it clear that annual leave is not accrued during periods of unpaid absence such as career breaks, unpaid special leave, unauthorised absence or industrial action.
Following 10 days of industrial action over the last few months, with 4 more strike days confirmed and a further 4 days expected based on statements by the CWU on social media, colleagues could have been absent from work for as many as 18 days by the end of December.
Therefore, as part of the normal quarterly review of unpaid absence, annual leave entitlements will be adjusted in January to reflect the number of days that colleagues have been absent due to industrial action. In broad terms, for a full time colleague, this equates to a reduction of 0.5 days annual leave for every 5 days of unpaid absence.
· For colleagues who participate in every strike day, this means nearly 2 days of annual leave will be lost.
o If they have annual leave still to take this year, this will be deducted from their outstanding leave entitlement.
o If they have used all their leave, this will be deducted from their entitlement in 2023/24.
· These changes will be automatically calculated and adjusted in PSP based on individual pay records so there is no action for managers to undertake.
For more information, including details of annual leave entitlement and availability, please visit the ‘My Annual Leave' and the 'RMG People Policy' tiles on the People App.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Cheers Zareena ....... The effects on my Annual Leave (the allocation of which is farcical) were obviously at the forefront on my mind when considering whether, or not, to take Industrial Action.
This announcement may well be taken out of context, but it still comes acrosss as very crass and insensitive.
I take the view that a lot of people buy extra leave (so it costs them cash) .... I'm on strike (and that costs me cash) in both cases we're not at work!
OK so I'm not sunning myself on a beach somewhere. But I tend to just use whatever leave can be crammed into the available dates left for basically recuperating from the ever more demanding job.
Don't hear of many Posties going on walking holidays with lots of climbing do you? (Cue loads of "I like to go on walking holidays..." replies

I think it's a great deal TBH. A day taken off my annual leave of which I get a rubbish choice of when I can take it vs lots of days off at the busiest part of the year

Lol, jokes on her, most can’t get any of their leave approved due to the ridiculous only half a person is allowed of at once rule.

Counter productive for every action there will be an equal and opposite reaction ie more sickness absences more quiet quitting and less compliance if you want a war.
A war you will get.

Let's see them work it out as Annual Leave is done in hours and half the days I have been on Industrial Action have been on shorter hour days this is a company where I was on holiday last week and this week and have no faith that my money won't have been stopped for IA in spite of this. People having rolling rest days throws them already let alone anything that requires some calculus

I agree. I can see at least 100,000 industrial tribunal claims when they cock this up.denhamhoop wrote: ↑30 Nov 2022, 16:02Let's see them work it out as Annual Leave is done in hours and half the days I have been on Industrial Action have been on shorter hour days this is a company where I was on holiday last week and this week and have no faith that my money won't have been stopped for IA in spite of this.
