Preference exercise

Post by Gary55 »

A few of us completed the preference exercise out of curiosity to see what we'd get and as one were not tempted by the poor offer to ever accept. We have since worried if this might make us more vulnerable to compulsory redundancy selection as they haven't given any criteria for this

Certainly for the extra 6k, plus perhaps they’ve hit the 10k redundancies already.

Nothings been announced, so we can only guess!

RM said a few weeks ago that they wanted to reduce the workforce by 10,000, and between 5,000 – 6,000 would be redundancies.

They also recently said the VR exercise was over subscribed.

So assuming those figures are correct, more than 6,000 applied.

Although they'll be quite a few who applied and have no intention of taking it, as per the original post in this thread.

Will there be a situation where 15 people in x office want VR but only 5 need to go but 15 need to go in y office but only 5 people wanted VR? How would that work. Does it mean y office will have 10 compulsory redundancies and in x office there will be 10 pixxed off because they wanted to go?

My DOM said that if there was an office close by that was under subscribed , say only 2 applied but there was scope for 5 VRs in that office , then in theory you could carry those extra 3 VRs over to our office and we would be able to take up those extra 3 VRs. Of course it could be a crock of shite and it might be nothing like that ,and he is probably guessing.

Wouldn't that mean that 3 people from the neighbouring office, would have to move to your office. (Bumping).
