Formal notification of strike dates - 9 and 11 December

CWU has formally notified us of two further strike dates on 9 and 11 December.

The strike will cover all duties and scheduled attendance from 04:00 on Friday 9 December 2022 to 04:00 on Saturday 10 December 2022 and from 00:01 to 20:00 on Sunday 11 December 2022.

If Industrial Action continues, the 'best and final' offer that we have presented the CWU with will rapidly become unaffordable and it may need to be withdrawn.

The strikes have already added £100m to Royal Mail’s losses so far this year. In a materially loss-making company, with every additional day of strike action we are facing the difficult choice about whether we spend our money on pay and protecting jobs, or on the cost of strikes.

We will continue to do all we can to minimise delays and keep people, businesses and the country connected.

Losing money, then hand back the millions the directors have made out of the business.What about savings made for not paying striking workers. Also stop paying agency guys 10 hours a day for doing one walk, then have a go at permanent staff for taking too long!!!!

I believe the criticism is pointed at the managements ineffectual, and costly, use of agency staff, not the actual people themselves.

It's not the agency staff that are being attacked, rather the management culture that relies on them to be sent out doing something with no training and minimal information at great cost, whilst pleading poverty

Agreed, agency staff are brought in usually to replace someone who’s left 6 months earlier, they get treated like s**t, never made to feel part of the team, so much uncertainty, good luck to them come in and fill ur boots where possible, no one else will look out for you
