Observations from a post-strike Sunday

DO was utter carnage. Yorks everywhere, more arriving as I left.... They seemed to have called in all the Sunday workers from this week and next, as well as the casuals and we barely touched the sides!
All the bullrings had 16+ sleeves of trackers, plus at least 8 of non tracks around them for the morning (and as I say, there were more arriving.) There were a good 20 Yorks unsorted by the door, and we are due another delivery or two due in the morning.

A LOT of Amazon stuff. Like probably 40 of the 110 packets I had today were Amazon, plus a lot of John Lewis and Boots.

Managers telling us to take "as much as possible, be as long as you like we will pay you" .... No thanks! I cut off and went home, as did most others so loads of undelivered stuff to sort through.

Found a whole bunch of soaking wet, doorstepped packets from competitors and a few of our own courtesy of (I assume) casuals on Friday in rural places that barely get mail... Yodel had rendered a door inaccessible by piling packets (boxes of wine bottles) up in the doorframe, all falling apart in the rain!

So Christmas is going great

I’ll go in tomorrow throw in my D2Ds as I have two lots then throw my mech in them see how much time I have left.

I doubt I will take half my walk tomorrow.

That's one of our advantages that Thompson and the BOD are going to totally obliterate. Quality of service. 95% of royal mail posties care about what they deliver (or used to). We treat all pkts as if they are our own. I'd never dream of leaving anything that would get destroyed by rain or so visible that it would get lifted off a doorstep 5 feet from the footpath by a passing thief.
I once saw an Amazon guy drop a bottle of alcoholic drink, it's so obvious what a bottle feels like in a bottle shaped box, over a six foot gate. It inevitably ended up smashed on the concrete. Didn't seem to care. Disgusting that our good reputation company will end up like that. I personally will never treat anyone else's stuff in a way I wouldn't want anything of mine treated. Ever.

Told by dom Saturday as we are so short as usual on Monday we will just do tracked for 2 or 3 walks each with maybe a couple of hct walks doing mail

Can't see every DO having any mech, some MCs might have sacrificed the mech to free up staff for Tracked and normal parcels

here here every other courier just throw our parcels in the bin now they dont even bother knocking !

Ive said it for years.. they switch the lights off end of one day and switch back on again the next. And forget the previous day ever happened.. Just how christmas used to be and how it always is... 'There's something that happens end of year....oh what it is... er Christmas . Thats a RM manager for you.. was never like that back in the day but we have what we have. Start on time take your break go home on time.. clear office policy isnt your problem. Work over if u need but for f@#k sake dont start early for free ( your not insured ) take your break and sign out (scan ) on time. Always remember..a manager wants more not because of you but coz of there bonus.. wake up get a set of balls good old days are over but make RM managers work for their wage.
