These guys clearly know their stuff. I think it is clear that we are being let down by our leadership. The CEO is not empathetic or capable of communicating a vision to the workforce as stakeholders and shareholders. He is clearly forcing the change without mutual consultation. The Union is riveted in the public service ethos of the past and hasn't actually offered any practical tactical solutions to last mile delivery innovation. Both sides are locked in a cul-de-sac.
We risk losing business and jobs. My thoughts are that we need to change but this change has to be brought through progressively and through consultation. The CEO must go. Maybe the union should look in the mirror too.
I always liked fords btw...

A consultative approach should have always been the way. If the company had sat down with the workers and the union and explained exactly why change was needed and sought ideas about how best to do it there could have been an outcome that would be palatable for all sides (not saying it would be popular)but unfortunately we weren't told anything other than we need to change and change now and then the cwu and RM went to war and we are where we are now with no end in sight to this dispute. We all lose in this fight.Trumanity wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 16:18theargyspy wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 15:47Might be worth a comment![]()

Seen this but the whole part of being a person in business is effective communication and that what you have to do is believe in it live it and breath it and sense it. Simon Thompson has none of these attributes and is a very poor leader but a very rich man who has no morality or judgment!

That would mean management working with the union and that’s what management doesn’t want. All they want to do is destroy the union and that’s why I can’t see there ever being an agreement. Smash the union for VESA to take over and attack us again but this time without union protection.Trumanity wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 18:21Postmanham wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 17:49A consultative approach should have always been the way. I fully agree with this hypothesis. Breaking this union is the goal. We can't let that happen. The union movement, in this country, would be completely over. I've also watched this video, and I have to disagree with the comments being made regarding the union being in opposition to automation. I've never heard a single word opposing automation or modernisation. Royal Mail is not modernising anything, taking workers terms, conditions and rights, back to Dickensian times, isn't modernisation.walthmstowman wrote: ↑26 Nov 2022, 16:19That would mean management working with the union and that’s what management doesn’t want.
