Christmas eve....

Post by meweavy »

I don't hardly post on this forum often, but I have been on here a lot reading about the situation.
Anyway my question is to Martin Walsh and anyone else who might know.
So our 12 week strike legalities run up until the 23rd December, yet we have planned strikes on the 24th December.
I'm concerned about whether we will be protected by the union if by the 24th December we are out on strike.?
Surely with the state of things atm and this royal mail, surely the union will make sure we are legally allowed to go on strike on the 24th December without worrying about repercussions.?
I'm concerned about the 24th.
I will never cross the picket line and have never crossed a picket line in the 25 years I've been at royal mail.
Can someone please clarify that we will be legally covered by the union on Christmas eve,if the strike goes ahead on that day?
Cheers.

The RMT recently had another ballot so they could legally carry on their industrial action, does the CWU plan to do the same?

Good question, I'm guessing in a short time the CWU will give us the details on this.

It does need to be addressed, the nearer it gets to this date, and light years from any agreement,24th could be a definite strike day.
The very least the cwu should be doing is telling us if we're covered on the 24th.

Don't know if I'd trust them enough after the clusterfxxk they made before. At least not enough to risk dismissal just for one days IA.

I personally think that if we are still in dispute on the 23rd the strikes should be cancelled.
The dispute will continue after Christmas regardless, but can you imagine the positive publicity if "posties cancel strikes to deliver Christmas"

Let's face it if we haven't got an agreement by the 23rd those 2 days will not make a difference.

Why cancel it, at least people can have some time off over Christmas. We might as well make the striking work to our advantage.

The public just need to ensure they order things in advance.

You won't have a job, if we backtrack on strikes. That is what's at stake if RM can steamroller their plans through.

Get more credit and more support by cancelling. 2 days at Christmas will not make a difference if Thompson is willing to let it go that far.

That's what ive read all the time with these strikes. It's all about having a few days off for football, fishing trips or more days off at Christmas . If some people can say on a forum that's their main advantage of striking I can't understand why they want to strike for more money while it's clear they can get by very well without money. It's all about having the days off. Look back at the posts.

its not about money its because they are knackered after being given unachievable targets and STILL bullied and harassed on a daily basis, they look forward to days off because of mental and physical stress,if we let them win it will be 10 times worse and staying to work for a company like that puts serious risk to health

If its not about money why even stay in the job ? Get a job on less money and less stress . They'll be hundreds of postman this year having a miserable Christmas because of money shortage and higher bills. If people are not worried about money then don't rub it in for the ones struggling by saying how good it is to spend more time in the pub watching football.
