Xmas Casuals on strike days
Anyone know if xmas casuals who choose to stay away/not cross picket line need to phone in their absence? The info we got at the MC today was a bit vague in that no-one would give a definite answer

You are legally covered by the strike ballot. You do not need to phone in.
You won't be paid though, obviously.

The reality is that any Christmas Casual that does not turn up for work for whatever reason will not be asked to come back. Strike or no strike. Seen it happen year after year with a zero hour contract

Probably not worth the trouble this year, must be other companies needing staff in December.

Yeah, kinda preparing for that now especially as managers were asking some of us directly if we were coming in on strike days (so as to cover PSM)
