I think we’ve long since passed the point of “they won’t do that”

I still back the CWU but blind faith doesn’t beat action that is correct and legal.

It would be a narrow-minded, poor PR and bad business move by the company to do this but for the Union not to acknowledge or be open about the fact that every employee taking industrial action on Thursday no longer holds the normal legal protection offered by legislation and their trade Union subscription would be very poor imo.

Thompson would have to prove that he has done EVERYTHING to settle this dispute, and in my opinion, he can't do that; not turning up to negotiations, issuing ultimatums, refusing to talk anymore if we don't give in, spending more on agency, etc, when it would have cost him less initially to settle, lying about VESA and reducing the USO to a 5 day week ... I could go on!

The 12 weeks start from the date of the first strike on each of the ballots. Therefore on the change ballot which is the next set of action this does not kick in till 19th December.

There is other issues which make this an unlikely course for Royal Mail.

Unlikely, but still possible then and strike dates have been announced for after the 19th. Would we not be better off striking for more than is scheduled before the 19th then?

If a ballot remains ‘live’ for 6 months (26 weeks), how can people legally be sacked after 12 weeks??
There ARE practical issues with dismissing 115,000 people on the same day:
who processes, distributes and delivers Royal Mail’s parcels and letters on day 8, after the 7-day legal notice Royal Mail have to give?

(and you could claim you didn’t get the letter. You know what the post is like )
