The irony is

Post by chickenwittle »

The ageing slow workforce of senior men that Royal Mail would love to get rid of will probably now stay due to these reduced VR terms. They will be snapped up by the younger lads that will take the few quid to get out now and get other jobs.

If you are of that ilk, id take it anyway. Because RM will be looking to "manage you out of the business" for being too slow and not keeping up with posties 30 years younger than you.

Probably right who wants to look for a job in their 50's or 60's but those younger ones will not get 9 months pay more like 12 weeks.

Exactly right , those aged 50 + will be reluctant to leave on those terms knowing they will need to find new jobs , younger lads will be more open minded and think there is better out there and take the money and run.

I’m 39 got over 19 years service and there is plenty of employment where I live. It’s a no brainer for me.

That’s fair enough but I’m talking 50+ senior men , majority will now stick around.

You’re right to old to start fresh and the offer won’t be good enough to retire on. I doubt I will be getting paid off anyway.

Yes I'm 50+. But would not want to leave for 9 months pay, 24 months has it was, I would leave, could then survive with a part time job

It's going to be old men and women on delivery as none off them can afford to take this package and young ones will not take the terms and pay they are offering as there's better jobs and pay out there in stead off walking about in the cold off winter

Yeah same as me , mid 50s 30+ years in , not walking away for reduced sum to look for another job at my age and I assume most feel the same , let the youngsters snap it up .

Desperate to go, but this offer is nowhere near what I would need in my late 50s. I will hang around a while longer, quietly quitting til 60

30 years thinking the grass is greener then stacking shelf on nights in Tesco for monthly pay what they used to earn in a week...
