Talks

Post by Clairedarep »

I understand that it’s usual to get very little update when the cwu are in “deep and meaningful” serious talks but it appears Dave ward is also in talks this week with BT and also parcelforce, my worry is that the negotiatiors seem to be spreading themselves very thinly across too many matters, we are in a race against time to settle this dispute because if it goes past Xmas we have lost, all strikes will then be ineffective as the company will love to save money in January and beyond

If an agreement is not made up then xmas will be ruined for everyone, that includes customers.

Every xmas they need us more than any other time of the year, and everyone's efforts are stretched to the max. We all try and do our bit so as everything is cleared within the office, but I'm afraid this time around will be different and I can't see employees giving that every little helps mantra.

Not sure what it's like in all the other offices but everyone has had enough and no one wants to do the overtime unless they desperately need it. Let's hope something comes good out of these meetings or this dispute could last into 2023.

People are also fed up of managers in our office saying overtime is on then it’s back off so a lot are now sailing they will not work over at all for the Christmas period regardless of the outcome of the talks

Why do a few weeks overtime to dig them out of the hole they dug for themselves? It will be removed again after Xmas anyway.

This is what’s happened at my MC . So management have proven yet again that they are liars . Whatever happens now I think quite a bit of irreparable damage has been done.

i get xmas is a main concern to many,
if you're in an office that's imposed an overtime ban they will feel the pinch if they haven't been able to set aside funds when the overtime was free flowing,
but there is always next years, we've already had a restricted 1, my kids are grown up so can enjoy the ban with no stress and it's actually become an easier job to do,
kids are generally spoilt all year round these days, just the extra time playing simple games with them should be better than working 12hrs with 3 days off spent knackered and sleeping,
if they don't agree a pay deal then if you can, stick to your basic pay if/when they come begging, they don't give a toss about us
rm will know most will crumble in the run up

but remember the job is for life not just xmas, don't sell your soul for a 2 days of happiness

I would say the fact that Thompson and his cowardly board are cutting allowances at offices by stealth, and causing loss of pay rises, that means there is even more likely to be a resounding anti Thompson vote in both ballots should they still be going ahead. It certainly means any pay deal offered to the union would be more likely to be rejected.

We ballotted for a no strings payrise, it didn't have to be massive, would have probably accepted 4 - 5% one year deal with no strings. Now, the more strings the bigger the percentage required.

Oh and annualised hours is a no no, doesn't matter how big the payrise. I want a finish time so I can have a life.
