Call to Arms
Okay - we may have our differences on here on how the CWU have or should be tackling this diabolical situation we find ourselves in.
However I think we should now pull ourselves together and get ourselves organised before it’s too late. Time is of the essence now and I firmly believe we should have a mass rally in London.
We need as many RM employees as possible to march to RM headquarters and protest. We can all hide behind our keyboards throwing our hands up in horror and get ourselves down onto picket lines on strike days but we are now fast approaching D Day and nothing is going to save us. ST has shown he will plough on regardless and if we’re gonna go down then let’s at least take the fight right to the bastard’s door. This is not a game we can sit and watch any longer where RM & the CWU try to outwit each other, this is our livelihoods, our pensions and our futures. If we go down we must go down fighting, kicking & screaming having given it our best shot. At the moment it’s all a bit meek and passive.
We need to pick ASAP a strike day to at least do something collectively before it’s too late and we sit back and think to ourselves “if only we’d done something more”.
I don’t know what others think of this idea but I feel now that things are getting extremely desperate and slipping away from us. I’m not some extreme radical and don’t suggest this form of action lightly but surely we have to do something!!
Thoughts!

So on top of losing wages you would like the rest of us to fork out on a jolly to london to show we’re serious? f**k Royal Mail we carried this company for a decade on goodwill, let it burn I’m beyond indifferent at this pointGRS wrote: ↑31 Oct 2022, 23:00Okay - we may have our differences on here on how the CWU have or should be tackling this diabolical situation we find ourselves in.

Re: Call to Arms
Well, all of a sudden ST, or houdini . Pulls a rabbit out of the hat. 9% over 2 years, waoh! Where did that come from, a company losing so much money , was it a loan from the banks to fund this. Or is the wolf finally showing his colours. The managers seem to have agreed on their offer. Woah! more money paid out from a company leaking money. Let's see if HOUDINI , can pull another rabbit from the hat ! And give us a slightly better deal. MAGIC that guy ST. Or the best poker face in the business,

Re: Call to Arms
The CWU really need to push the point within ACAS that ST has essentially admitted to fire and rehire.
You can’t say 10,000 job losses on the one hand whilst also announcing the hiring of new people on new terms.
The CWU should also push RM to release actual data about this deal compared to the previous one - such as what the total pay envelope would be for this and the previous deal (i.e. how much it would cost the company).
From a closer look, I suspect the figures don’t change that much, especially as nailing down a 1.5% rise for next year would be a HUGE win for RM.
The other thing the CWU should really push on is the later delivery times in the sense that this is really bad for b2b customers.
If big firms realise that their mail arrangements are going to be put completely out of sink they won’t like it and that should bring more questions towards the board about quality of service from the USO provider.
Finally - ST is set to announce half year results for the group on the 17th November - we desperately need to hold out until at least then (this is partly why a new deal has suddenly appeared, despite ST’s previous denials).

It was a suggestion, an idea born out of desperation and the need to feel like doing something different. At no point did I demand that you join a jolly in London.heraldmoth wrote: ↑31 Oct 2022, 23:53So on top of losing wages you would like the rest of us to fork out on a jolly to london to show we’re serious? f**k Royal Mail we carried this company for a decade on goodwill, let it burn I’m beyond indifferent at this pointGRS wrote: ↑31 Oct 2022, 23:00Okay - we may have our differences on here on how the CWU have or should be tackling this diabolical situation we find ourselves in.

The company is done. You can’t fight a company takeover, which is due imminently, so it seems pointless to keep losing any more money. Unless there is some miracle government intervention, we will be bought out and our contracts torn up.

Absolutely hear what you’re saying but the horse seems to have bolted. For as long as I can remember we have been told do the job right, we haven’t and now we have this bed to lay in.GRS wrote: ↑01 Nov 2022, 07:37It was a suggestion, an idea born out of desperation and the need to feel like doing something different. Re: Call to Arms
So that's it then , we just give up now and throw in the towel. Have you contacted Dave Ward etc and told them that's what we wish to do and there's no point in them going into talks anymore? Talk about taking the easy way out!

Re: Call to Arms
Dave Ward needs to be advised that his constant "we will win this dispute, no doubt", is an absolute load of bollocks, laughable, and he needs to stop it.
The CWU will most definitely NOT win this dispute, as NEITHER will RM.
It is all about trying to get the best out of a bad job now. ST is not finished yet, prepare for more cut backs and burning of T&C's in the coming days/weeks now that some of the agreements signed up to years ago have now expired.
I really cannot understand anyone wanting to stick with this company now, it is ruining your lives, and I am in no doubt whatsoever that things will only get worse, not even staying the same.
Posts are being put on the FB page Royal Mail Chat at all hours of the day and night, the evenings are awash with posties on there, proving that you are never switching off from the job after you get home - THAT is the affect the job is having on you, and ST knows this as he will be trolling the forums probably under an assumed name.
There are plenty of jobs out there - it really is about just making the final step out of the door. Sure, you've got to start over again, but once you're out, believe me you will NEVER look back.

Re: Call to Arms
What do you think striking is achieving at this point? There is no pressure on ST to reach a deal with the CWU as he knows that a takeover is imminent, just as he knew that the ‘deal’ offer yesterday would be rejected. He is stalling for time and if the share prices drop even further in the meantime, all the better.
As for easy way out. I’ve lost hundreds in pay already, so suffering as much as anyone else on the picket lines.

Errrr.......that's why I suggested something different at the top of the page, because I don't think adding more and more strikes is going to do anything!!LouBarlow wrote: ↑01 Nov 2022, 08:05What do you think striking is achieving at this point? Here we go, typical institutionalised employee who would not last five minutes elsewhere. I am genuinely very concerned by what is happening to my ex colleagues at this time, it never got as bad as this in my time there, people like you gift ST with exactly what he seeks - divide and conquer.seaside wrote: ↑01 Nov 2022, 09:04Never look back, have you left, on the forum b4 8 in the morning, who's looking backpriority102 wrote: ↑01 Nov 2022, 07:54Dave Ward needs to be advised that his constant "we will win this dispute, no doubt", is an absolute load of bollocks, laughable, and he needs to stop it.
