CWU and not using the media effectively

Post by hazzeem025 »

Why does the CWU not,

1. Tell the media about the thousands of duties that fail each week?
2. Tell the media that managers are committing fraud everyday by false reporting of failed duties?
3. Tell the media of the appalling, constant bullying and harassment that goes on in the business?
4. Show the media screenshots and "that video" from workplace of ST being a condescending fool?

Is there some secrecy clause in place that stops them from doing this? I know they're supposedly going to major shareholders with a portfolio of evidence of Thompson's rants/childish antagonistic behaviour but has it actually happened.

Thompson and R.M need to be shown for what they really are!

Do you honestly believe the media would be interested?

The message needs to be gotten out there. Yes parts of the media couldn't care less (Telegraph, Express etc) Sky News etc.

Why can't they post it on twitter, Facebook. Social media is the best way of reaching a massive audience. Go to The Guardian, Chanel 4, Email the evidence to MPs. I just think the CWU are missing a trick.

Thompson and his board are playing dirty, so should the CWU.

They are on social media. Wasn't there the Save Our Postie advert?
There have been stories in the Guardian and a podcast by a Guardian journalist.
There have been letters from Labour MPs to Simon Thompson.
They are not missing a trick. Nobody seems to be very interested.

Yes I can imagine Channel 4 bringing one of their reporters back from the front line in Ukraine to do an undercover expose of Royal Mail bosses because you are expected to start work on time.
I am sure the Great British public would be shocked to know that people are being threatened with the conduct code for persistent lateness.
I can't think of a single business where turning up for work on time is the expected norm.

It is true that there are a lot of absolute tools in our business, but only some of them buy their shirts at Primark.

I get what you're saying and that they're on social media, they've done this etc.

But the problem I have is that it's not the right message they're putting out there. Thompson and his Workplace minions behaviour is nothing short of the kind of childish stuff that goes on in a playground. The managers commit fraud on a daily basis with their failure reports. Simon Thompson made a decision to freeze recruitment resulting in thousands of daily failures on delivery. He and his management 'teams' are constantly bullying and harassing people.

I haven't seen any of the above on any social media, any news outlets. The only time I hear anything about it is on the updates we see from the CWU.

Perhaps i'm wrong and perhaps things are going on behind the scenes that I don't know about concerning the above problems I have . But it's not happening quick enough. It needs to exposed by whatever means, to as many people as possible.

Perhaps Martin Walsh or someone with a better understanding of disputes can give me an answer to the nicely, nicely approach.

It's time the CWU stopped playing by the rules (if that's what's going on). They need to fight fire with fire.

The trouble is that so much of the media has been hit by massive job cuts. The average article on Royal Mail now seems to be (a) copy and paste from one press release. (b) copy and paste from another. (c) call it a day.

When a government can reappoint a home secretary less than a week after she admitted to serious breaches of security and the public just shrugs its shoulders you know that the "media" and public reaction has lost any real relevance.

This fight is ours to fight, there is no backup coming.

Yep, you are right about job cuts and copy and pasting in current journalism.
This gives the CWU an opportunity to control the narrative by bombarding news and media outlets with the truth about bullying and harassment, RMs attack on T&Cs. How they are responsible for the alleged daily losses by not attending negotiations. Paying Agency works more than current employees to break the strikes the huge expense of hiring vehicles to break the strike. Imposing a stop to overtime and how that affects those on part time wages.

Many may ignore but many won't. Time for the CWU PR team to step up and put the effort and time into championing our fight.

I think what the original poster is saying is
That WE and it is us, all of us are not getting our message across.

We are the Communication Union and should be all over the media, but we are not.

Mass Whistle blowing is required.

But the bosses stamped on the few leaked pictures of chaotic offices a year or so back, threatening us with the official secrets act.

If people knew the extent.

Mass whistle blowing might sound good but its hard enough to get one whistle blower who the media will take serious they tend to side with the corporation's "were losing a million a day and there is no letters anymore"ok must be true.
