Agency staff Training
So why is it agency staff require little or no training where as permanent staff have a week training then at least 4 weeks on own walk? I had to work with agency guy yesterday who had just half a days training but according to my manager is really good etc, I said I would come back on my time even though he said he will carry on in till he finishes! We got out at 11 and I came back at 230 and we only done one walk! He now is accusing me of willfully delay as agency guy was knackered and didn’t want to go on his own, surely this isn’t working and is only going to get worse why do they think agency is the answer I can see it just collapsing soon as these guys aren’t the answer and seems like they make plenty of errors as well, can I refuse to work with them as it seems pointless if not training them?

Re: Agency staff Training
So the facts are items of mail were not delivered yesterday that in any other circumstance would be delivered in the time allocated?
Are there not procedures in place that if you cannot complete you phone your manager for advice. Did you do this and follow the correct over running delivery procedure?
This cannot be wilful delay as that insinuates intent, more like inexcusable delay in not following correct procedure. Any sort of delay without a reasonable excuse is a Criminal Offence under the Postal Services Act and Gross Misconduct.
Sorry to be blunt, but you are blaming the agency chap who does not know the correct procedure over an employed member of staff fully briefed on the correct procedure.
My advice is to speak to the office rep and get representation at any fact/formal disciplinary meeting

No I im blaming poor management by employing agency guys and throwing them in at the deep end and think they can cope when clearly they can’t, manger reluctantly agreed that it’s probably too much to expect fromredlen wrote: ↑28 Oct 2022, 17:37So the facts are items of mail were not delivered yesterday that in any other circumstance would be delivered in the time allocated?

Re: Agency staff Training
Fully agree that you refuse to work past your official finish time.
This is the problem now that managers expecting you work until finished so they can report a clear office past your contracted hours. It is nothing more than performance management that has exploded over recent years and in my book, unwanted attention. Can only be because of pressure from senior managers on them.
It never ceases to amaze me this "Us and Them mentality" as an institutionalised bullying culture within Royal Mail continues unabated, no matter what grade employee you are.

It's situations where the PDA actuals system could be modified so that the agency can be tracked where they are in real time. Going by timings passing strategic locations along a walk, it should be possible to gauge how well the agency/causal is getting onmatthew68 wrote: ↑29 Oct 2022, 06:33No I im blaming poor management by employing agency guys and throwing them in at the deep end and think they can cope when clearly they can’t, manger reluctantly agreed that it’s probably too much to expect fromredlen wrote: ↑28 Oct 2022, 17:37So the facts are items of mail were not delivered yesterday that in any other circumstance would be delivered in the time allocated?
