5 day letter USO
5 day letter USO looks like the main aim right now, doesn't it? RM can say 6 day USO is not financially viable, regulator has already said it's not necessary, and research says public wouldn't feel differently about 5 day letter service. I'd guess removing cover duties adds up to at least what the business is losing now. Problem solved.
Ok it doesn't address finish times and weekend working, but it will indirectly. Surplus staff can either leave or work parcel duties including weekends. Simplicity is beautiful.
I'm just speculating, but speculation invites conversation, so...
What if?

Re: 5 day letter USO
They could cut the hours in the working week while keeping our pay the same and moving Saturdays to rotational SA for premium parcels. But they won’t do that…

I like the optimism that it will be a 5-day letter operation.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I think Thomsons infiltrating the site tbf
As I said on another post lots of newbies on line
And as for 5 days letter fine but we couldn’t cope with that during covid when they lapsed sat letters for the sake of parcels
They don’t have a clue how to run it together
And they should be insisting on dsa pay full wack or refuse to deliver
f**k ofcom it’s just made up jobs

I’ll be first in the queue to go. No job security anymore and must be so stressful for our younger colleagues being messed about like this. I’m counting down the days before I can go. I’ve met many ex employees who all tell me they wished they had got out sooner, and they feel so much better now and are a lot more happier. Isn’t it sad how a once happy hard working bunch have been so badly treated they are feeling like this.

It's more like 1 in 5 letter operation. Seeing plenty of walks only getting to addresses once a week, unless they order something tracked/special delivery.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑27 Oct 2022, 09:37I like the optimism that it will be a 5-day letter operation.

Re: 5 day letter USO
Exactly this , Covid has shown Royal Mail the future, people genuinely don’t care about getting letters every day , they’d be ok with delivery every couple of days , Tracked and specials every day .Bowiefan wrote: ↑27 Oct 2022, 16:32It's more like 1 in 5 letter operation.
