Lost Parcelforce

Post by ariadne »

Are other depots the same as ours.
Ninety percent of the office staff, nights and afternoon shift back at work. Around seventy five percent of drivers back.
The remainder of us still out are being made to feel we are the ones in the wrong.
Owner drivers making a fortune sweeping up our work.
The feeling at our place is we are pi##i€g in the wind !!

On a previous strike day my local Parcelforce set up their picket for an hour. Got the photos for the CWU socials then went back to work as normal. We've one lad crossing ours as he can't "afford" to strike. He's been working 7 day weeks for months. We can be our own worst enemy sometimes. :arrrghhh

Fairly sure that's illegal anyway to be working 7 day weeks

It's not illegal I'm sorry to say.

Think NHS, armed forces, merchant navy (what's left of it), who work for Dayton end. I'm also aware of places where staff work 8 days on, four days off etc. Companies get their workforce to opt out of the work time directive.

It’s not illegal but not allowed in Royal Mail must have 24 hours off a week or 48 every 2 weeks

This is part of the reason why Thompson wants more owner-drivers. Much more likely to not take part in strikes

Is this down to management to notice and act on or is it an automated process that would be flagged up by payroll, or even both for that matter?

We've got posties who nearly always work their days off plus do Sunday parcels on overtime. (Strike days don't count either as they work them) so they're regularly going over this limit.
