ROYAL MAIL GROUP NATIONAL DISPUTES – UPDATE

Further to LTB 418/22, following an invitation from ACAS, we can now confirm that the CWU and Royal Mail have agreed to engage with ACAS facilitation in an attempt to resolve our current disputes on pay and change.

Below is a Joint Statement that has been agreed by all parties.

ACAS Facilitation: Pay and Change Disputes

Following an invitation from ACAS, Royal Mail and CWU have agreed to jointly engage with ACAS facilitation in an attempt to resolve the current disputes on Pay and Change. There is a commitment on both sides to reach a resolution however we all acknowledge there are significant difficulties to overcome.

An opening session will now take place on Tuesday 25th October with the objective to reach an agreed approach for further facilitated talks.

We can also confirm that there is no requirement on the union to stand down strike action as part of the ACAS process and the strike on Tuesday 25th October will go ahead as planned.

The spirit, strength and resolve of our members was once again on display last Thursday and it’s crucial that picket line activity is again very active tomorrow, whilst observing the legal code of practice.

Further information will be provides to Branches, Reps and members in due course. In the meantime, please ensure this update is circulated in all workplaces. Tomorrow....its official....ltb out. .....both sides have agreed to start talks tomorrow...strikes still go ahead......for now

Tbh....i cant see the talks doing much anyways...his "team" will offer more money only for him to contradict it next day cos the arsehole isn't even attending any of the meetings. So they'll collapse and we'll start the rolling disputes till he's forced to attend or sacked.

Indeed, the LTB and announcement suggests tomorrow is a "positioning" day to agree an agenda and priority etc. Doesn't look like they will get into any detail.

I honestly feel that Royal Mail’s persistence of going to ACAS is that they know/are sure they will get the deal they want from it.

True, but ST’s been wrong plenty of times before.

talking to the rep on the picket line last Thursday, he said when the union agreed to merge the ''no strings'' pay claim with their ''change' plans. there was a mention from their side of a 2 yr deal with 6% 1st yr, and 5% the 2nd yr. this was the money that was claimed might be available until Thompson put his oar in. but he says we would absolutely HAVE to accept some of their changes being brought in. maybe relent some of the sick pay arrangements and later starts. but everybody on the line said they would definitely NOT accept annualised hours or compulsory Sundays. so we'll see if that was true over next few weeks/months
