Transferring

Post by Neverwasadoor »

Did I read a letter a few months back from RM and the CWU saying that internal transfers stayed on their old contracts?
Or did I just dream it.
Many thanks for any help.

Not at ours. Lad had it all lined up , only to have all his terms gone. He's still here, but not working for RM much longer.

Ok thanks,
I was sure I read that they had come to an agreement somewhere but I must of been mistaken. Someone at my office wants to transfer to an office where they live, there are vacancies but they are being told they have to go on the new contract.
Absolutely mad as the office is short staffed and now they won't go, obviously.

Yes it's all new contract.
The lad at ours needs to transfer. He's a really good solid worker. RM wants him to lose all his terms. Fortunately he isn't desperate financially and has options.
But it a crap workplace.

If you changed from full time to part time. Or other way round for that matter will they change contracts or just hours?

Good to know. I hope it goes well.

Doesn't it just show you that as usual there is no consistency in this company? Everything is made up ad-hoc.!
Hope the op gets his transfer and keeps what he has.

I transferred from up north to the midlands ( an office I’d already spent years in ) and there was never any mention or indication of contract changes.

I think it’s just the usual managers trying it on nonsense.

Update,
Spoke to area union rep and he stated that as an existing employee they would transfer on their old contract. As stated manager was just trying it on.
Thanks for the replies.

Is that written anywhere? We've been told at our place that we will have to change contracts and work Sundays if we transfer. The union rep was not sure and offered no help.
