LTB 267/23 - UNAGREED EXTENSION OF 'MY PERFORMANCE' APP
No. 267/23
27th October 2023
Dear Colleagues,
UNAGREED EXTENSION OF ‘MY PERFORMANCE’ APP.
Further to LTB 258/23 circulated on 13th October 2023, Branches and Representatives will be aware Royal Mail unilaterally decided to extend the Pilot activity to a further 332 units across Scotland (excluding Highlands), Anglia, the Midlands and North East.
There has been a further exchange of correspondence on this matter including a letter from the Chief People Officer which states “I am open to a meeting to try and find a way to work together and progress constructively on this topic”.
In our response we have made it clear that the decision to move ahead without agreement is not acceptable, however we would also like to pick up the meeting in order to explore if progress can be made and have requested proposed dates for this to occur at the earliest opportunity.
Royal Mail are claiming the level of negative sentiment from their feedback differs from our own, so it is important we attend the meeting with a fully informed position.
As a result, we are requesting that each Branch covering an area in the Pilot extension provide an urgent report to fkelk@cwu.org by no later than 12:00 on Friday 3rd November 2023. This should cover the following:
Whether the CWU is being engaged locally by management on this matter;
The current situation in respect of the Pilot activity;
The number of members involved by unit;
Any undue or unnecessary pressure from local management; and
Any feedback received from members (both positive and negative).
Once we have met with Royal Mail, and the Postal Executive has considered the position, further information will be provided.
Yours sincerely

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Does seem like the start of a backtrack...usual state of play;
1st Statement - How dare they!...they haven't consulted us, we're not having it!
2nd Statement - We're going to meet them to discuss it, but still not having it
3rd Statement - They (RM) actually have a few good points that we can agree on
4th Statement - Full implementation.

Re: LTB 267/23 - UNAGREED EXTENSION OF 'MY PERFORMANCE' APP
Royal Mail have carte blanch to.do anything they like because nobody with any power has the temerity to put them in their place. This is just the tip of the iceberg. The greedy and corrupt business people will continue along their merry way until someone with some balls, stops them. The union has caved. The regulator clearly doesn't give a toot. Senior political figures couldn't give a crap. Either that or they're colluding with RM. The bunch of charlatans running RM need bringing to account but nobody seems willing or able...

Just let them play with their tools and statistics and do your job as you have been. They can’t even develop scanners that work in the rain reliably, so any attempt to use them to judge performance seems doomed to fail.
People need to understand - the human body has its limits. They can keep trying to push you beyond them, but I think they are realising, that even if they get rid of the staff unable to meet their mythical standards, any new recruits will be unable to reach them either.
Know your worth. Until they invent robots capable of doing our jobs, we will be fine as far as being judged by our performance goes.

Everything you said was correct, it's just that I don't see the CEO telling the shareholders there won't be a dividend this year because they've lamentably flogged the horse to death. The numbers must go up.
The machine stops.

This is very true. Personally I couldn’t give a damn about their performance app the majority of walks are impossible when you get slightly more than average mail.LouBarlow wrote: ↑28 Oct 2023, 18:21Just let them play with their tools and statistics and do your job as you have been. My office is already at breaking point and even the managers have accepted that.

You are right, but I think we have reached a point where they realise people cannot be pushed any further. I suspect they will look to other areas as a priority to save money, such as the USO. They still need us ‘grunts’ out there performing, and there is a genuine staffing crisis developing, which will only grow in March next year I predict.

I've only heard of this performance app on here, not been mentioned at work
