'100 per cent behind the agreement'

90-SECOND WATCH

Yesterday, the CWU informed us it had decided to delay the start of the ballot on the Business Recovery, Transformation and Growth Agreement. The CWU is requesting assurances from Royal Mail that we’re committed to working together to deliver the agreement and improve quality.

We are 100 per cent behind the agreement.

In this short film, hear from Ricky McAulay and Grant McPherson on our commitment and the importance of getting the agreement passed in a ballot as soon as we can.

So the first thing is, it's not good this ballot has been delayed. We worked really
tirelessly to get this agreement.

We've got a negotiator's agreement and the CWU really
need to get that out in front of their members.

There's just no reason to delay. We're absolutely
committed to the agreement, every aspect of it, and that includes section 2.5 the CWU have
mentioned about improving quality of service for our customers which again we're absolutely
committed to doing.

This gives uncertainty to our people that are waiting on a pay rise,
that are looking for job security. It gives uncertainty to customers who are deciding
now about who they partner with for Christmas coming up.
So the delay helps nobody.
We're committed to the agreement and in fact the agreement's not going to change if it's delayed.
The agreement is what we can afford, it's the right agreement for the business and it
strikes the balance of also giving pay back to our people. The change that we need, the
pay is always what we're driving to achieve.
Grant Says

Well it is disappointing that we have delayed
the ballot but we are 100% behind this agreement and we hope that they can change that decision
soon because it means certainty for all of our people, it means a pay rise for all of
our people and it means our customers also know what we're doing and they want to know
because they have choices to make.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Why does the CWU keep roping in the customer, quality of service and USO?

Just concentrate on the unachievable revisions and help Royal Mail dilute the USO; and get us the pay deal as soon as.

There is a lot of double speak or naivety on the part of the Union: they support the Revision, the want Royal Mail to be more profitable and they even mention looking into the USO and other things that they have agreed on...

Why the delay? RM are obviously pressing ahead with most of the changes with or without agreement, but the task will be made simpler if we stop harping on about customers and NHS letters and USO.

Yes, the attitudes of the managers have got really bad and harassment and bullying to achieve the unachievable is even more rife but most of that can really settle when the agreement is voted in; things will settle more, the Rep can start to have more of a say, and most crucially recruitment can start again...

You have made your points: get the ballot sorted and continue to fight and represent your members; no agreement will ever solve all the issues.

bull shiz.

That agreement about halting revisions was from approx 2 months ago now. Our office was yet to have the revision implemented at the point the agreement happened. What happened - Royal Mail went ahead with the revision when under an agreement to halt it.

Ricky McAuley speaks out his rear end.

The revisions have made quality of service the worst in Royal Mail history.

Everything in this company has been delayed for years… no need to send out a laurel & hardy tribute act to state the obvious.

the only thing Ricky and grant have done tirelessly is get revisions in place before any agreement is reached. the fact of the matter is in royal mail too many chiefs and not enough Indians!

Well, they're not "revisions" are they?
There has been no planning or impact study.

What they have done is rip duties out of offices and bunged random chunks of them on to any duty, without any consideration or consequence.

These are not revisions.

Agreed! They are not revisions at all. And it makes a mockery of all the tech they have brought in to monitor and assess workload. There was no planning at all!

Our managers said at the start that they have been given carte blanche to manage the office as they see fit; but at the brief, we were told that things will be monitored and where change is necessary it will be implemented.

Many weeks into the revision, it is bullying and harassment to get the impossible done: the revised walks can only be achieved for on Mondays; Tuesdays will be pushing it and the rest of the week, it is left in or cut off.

I have no problems leaving in or cutting off; also no problems with just taking parcels - I am just a drone, there to do as I am told, customers do not come into it for me...

Will the CWU manage to halt or revise the Revisions? And how long will they give it or how soon will things go back to the bullying and harassment when or if the agreement is passed?

* RM needs planners to do the revisions but they don't want to pay for them or are not willing. And real data needs to be used - PDA actuals, walk assessment and dynamic assessment on a daily basis. Most managers will not be up to the job if it comes to that!

why do they, i could work out how to make rounds the correct size pretty easily....seeing as I have done most of the rounds in my office. They were more or less ok before the stupid revisions, just needed tweaking. Now they are all 30-40 minutes too long on average.

So if you were out 30 - 40 minutes earlier they would be achievable?
How much time do they want to take off of indoor work?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I think 40 mins ain't too bad.
We're 2hrs + too long. Only the absorb and one duty achievable if we're lucky.
It's a disgrace.

Office I’ve just been moved too has had 10 walks removed and carved up, I’ve not even come close to completing any day this week, they told us they are not reversing the revision and plan to start changing frames to put the carved up extra onto our frames, pretty much all the walks have new builds on them that have never been added to frames and are still not going to be added when they move the imposed lapsing.

Joint ways of working and USO compliance my back end….
