Still talking so why should we just because one side did not turn up is not in itself an end in talks we all remain hopeful of a conclusion and an agreement! However it we have that mandate for action and will use it if needed!

Stikes are about getting people to talk once the barriers are broken down this enables the negotiations and then if only then should we call strikes if they cannot communicate. For f**k sake we can communicate by letter email but say one word at work and your sacked what a wonderful world we live in NOT!

Why are some people so readily willing to accept a s**t deal because of the £1500 lump sum?

And i thought Royal Mail had walked out of the negotiations?

It is obvious they have not been talking the same language for quite some time considering the latest Royal Mail proposals.

I frankly don't want either.
I can't really afford to strike as I'm married to someone who is also been striking on and off, between us we've lost a good chunk of our money the last financial year.
Equally the deal is absolute dog toffee, and I would rather have a decent rise than a lump sum (and no later starts, thanks.)

I feel I should just quit

The strikes at Christmas ended in failure, so what good would striking in May do?

So you agree that RMs latest proposals are unacceptable and we should strike. Got it

Maybe I'm being defeatist but what will strikes achieve? Half the workforce believes there to be a sinister Vesa equity led race to gut the company and strip all of it's assets, and if that's the case going on strike (aka giving the company more ammo in the quest to lose millions,) is doing exactly what they want... you know they'll be slinging cash at managers, casuals, and van hire companies throughout whilst blaming the workforce and USO for their depleted finances.

"If you fight you'll sometimes lose. If you don't you'll always lose" is a nice slogan, but we seem to be fighting kamikaze pilots this time around, who have committed themselves to absolute destruction of the company whatever happens

The CWU are giving Royal Mail the benefit of the doubt in light of their alleged financial position. And even though our dispute has never really been about money, due to the cost of living crisis, many posties may well be feeling the pinch. Plus the company have stated that further strikes would mean that any future pay deal would be unaffordable.

However, the company really haven't moved very far from their original offer so I don't understand why the union believe that they were ever close to an agreement especially if they were a million miles away last year??

Then what was the first ballot over, Remember No Strings?
The very thing the cost of living crisis that instigated that ballot

It can no longer be an alleged financial position as the CWU has confirmed it.

Well, if it is then the Royal Mail board should be held to account for turning a business that made record profits, handing out millions to shareholders and then claim barely a few months later that it is then losing over a million pounds a day.

Read this article...

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailym ... ikes.html

The company claimed that the 18 days of strikes cost the company in excess of £100 million so far, yet it also said that it has lost £450 million in the last financial year and is therefore at risk of going into administration.

Where has roughly £350 million gone?? :hmmmm
