It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Existing overtime rates are lower than base pay after 10 hours, so their overtime rates will be better!

Nothing else will be though. And this has happened... not a proposal, this is from now!

There's huge labour shortages across the economy thanks mainly to Brexit and Covid. Many offices are already struggling to recruit.

So..... good luck with getting people in on these terms, Royal Mail.

Exactly, very shortsighted.

Does that say 40 hours excluding meal break or including, can’t really see it very clearly.

Monthly pay, Once in we will all be expected to change soon.
Single pay rate for O/T so no scheduled attendance rate and remember they want to do away with OT anyway in Simon's statements for annualised hours.
Worse sick leave policy, easier IHR to get rid of an ageing workforce that can't keep up with and SAS soldier speed march.
Sunday working for single rate.

Or you could go and work in McD's for similar conditions but be more appreciated.

1000 people coming over on dinghy’s daily.

Why else do you think it’s been allowed to happen.

This makes me laugh....

They can't even recruit people at our large depot, people don't want to be Posties. The people that do join typically leave within 2 years.

That wage in the areas surrounding London is embarrassing. Places where rents are £1,400 a month and a 2 bed house costs £360,000. You cannot live on that salary.

Also, 40 hours a week doing a physical job like this - they will be demoralised with that pay and the exhaustion they will have to live with.

They might well recruit some
But they have not got a hope in hell of retaining people on those t&c and pay
Turnovers and absences will be phenomenal

they wont be doing 40 hours its 40 hours equivalent i.e their pay rate is based on a 40 hour week rather than 37 like current workforce

That’s not how it reads. TBH after the last revision a lot of the jobs at ours could easily be 40 hour duty’s, maybe next spring when they try and make the jobs even bigger they will have to up the new starters again to 45 hours.

As far as I understand it is what is meant by 40 hours - a part timers pay currently on say 30 hours is based pro rata on what a full timer gets for 37

Going forward a 30 hour worker employed will have their pay based pro rata on 40 hours

if.

full timer gets 400 ( for talking sake ) for 40 hours work
part timer would get 300 for 30

when shorter working week came in

full timer gets 400 for 37 hours work
part timer would get 330 or thereabouts for 30

going forward

someone employed on 30 hours will have their pay based on the old 40 hour rate
so 300 rather than 330

this is why the part timers got a bump in pay with the shorter working week - the rate went up for everyone because full timers kept the same pay for less hours worked

They are essentially undoing that for the future workforce
