I work as a delivery postie in a DO that has several divisions plus a mail centre.
Processing is out on strike the day before delivery.
If managers were to ask delivery staff to go through to the mail centre, outside of MC work that is part of their normal daily duties, in order to cover processing work that is uncovered because of industrial action, would delivery staff be right or even entitled to refuse to do so?
Would asking staff in one role to cover the job of striking staff in another role be the same as asking them to effectively cross the picket line and could said staff refuse on the grounds that it is not a reasonable instruction?
This goes for all roles too, substitute those roles for what I have said, and I hope someone can clear this up.

Re: Question about the rolling strikes
Do the MC and DO sides each have separate office managers or is one manager in overall charge of both?
I'm expecting that we'll be really quiet on nights in MCs Monday when network/logistics are on their strike. I expect that they'll have us sorting 2C and Tracked 48, leaving early shift little or nothing to do Wednesday morning

Re: Question about the rolling strikes
There are separate managers for the DO and MC.
What exactly is Network anyway?
Like I said this could apply to any role, if delivery is on strike they might ask other roles that are light on work to go put in D2Ds or sequenced mail.
We all need to know what our rights are in this case.

Re: Question about the rolling strikes
I have a similar question. I work in a DO that’s in a mail centre, and I do scheduled work in the mail centre from 4am to 5am, then work in delivery from 5am. Would I still have to go in for my 4am scheduled in processing on the day delivery is out? And the day processing is out, should I not come in for my 4am scheduled?
