Worthwhile emailing MP?

Post by the beautiful bd south »

So not sure it will do any good but just sent this to my MP Imran Hussain.
Nothing to lose.

Sir,
As a postal worker for 33 years I have never been so fearfull for the future of this once great company and indeed the future of my own employment.
Simon Thompson (CEO) seems determined to destroy the CWU regardless of the consequences to the business.
The CWU are willing to negotiate a way forward which has the best interests of the business and its employees as priority yet Mr Thompson doesn't seem interested in finding a resolution to this dispute, as already stated his sole agenda seems to be destruction of the CWU.
His recent threats of redundancies are nothing more than a bullying tactic, sadly an all too familiar trait, which has become the norm within Royal Mail.
He has recently claimed that if industrial action continues beyond October this will lead to even further Job losses yet he is not willing to work with the CWU to find a resolution.
If you are to believe his rhetoric he has overseen a company making a healthy profit into a company making a loss of £1m a day, to which he has been handsomely rewarded for failure.

I urge yourself and the Labour Party to get involved in this dispute and support the CWU as the union has supported the Labour Party for many years.

Simon Thompson needs to be held account for his actions or lack of action during this dispute.

I hope this can be taken to the house as a priority.

Yours faithfully

Well done on taking time to do this, I do not think though it will do the slightest bit of good.

1, Royal Mail is no longer a public company, MP's have no say in anything they do or say. They can ignore them so long as they work within the law.

2, Labour are in opposition, when Boris got elected the Tories had an 80 seat majority, I have no idea what the majority is now but unless the government were on our side, labour can do about as much as you and me, probably even less as they can't strike.

Our biggest hope in my opinion is ST is removed by the shareholders and replaced with someone that is willing to negotiate, if that doesn't happen when we take action at the busiest time of the year, it ain't happening.

I stand ready to be proved wrong so good luck.

Not criticising you mate, just have more luck if your MP was in government, thing is the current one want to pass even more anti union legislation. Be like asking that Caroline Lucas to make a fuss from the green party, she is just one person they all ignore.

If Labour don't have momentum now they never will.

I can only email my MP regardless of their party.

Imagine if every mp received a similar email 🤔

If we had an election called now, we might have a chance, this shower of shite aren't silly enough to do that. If we had a labour government that investigation into the takeover would have more chance of coming out in our favour, that could see the end of ST.

I look forward to seeing this debated in the house of commons and Trussbot ordering ST to get around the table and negotiate with the union. You can just see yourself, it isn't going to happen, the tories will be jeering him on to smash us. I blame everyone that votes tory.

I tell you what, I will email mine, it's a LIbdem, as you say it costs nothing. I am willing to waste my time doing it as nothing to lose. I just don't expect to get anything from it.

I like you don't expect it to have any impact at all but I am willing to give it a go

I met my local Tory MP on my delivery as she was canvassing. Said we were all hero’s for our work during the pandemic. Also told her what Royal Mail had planned for us and this was back in May.

I already e mailed my Tory MP. She regurgitated the same old Tory s**t about left wing trotskyist unions holding the country to ransom.

I replied that I should know my place and promised to help her party bring back workhouses and boys up chimneys. How dare workers stand up for stand up for fair wages and conditions. Whatever next.
