Sign in sign out icon appeared on PDA homescreen
Did anyone else have a new icon for Sign In Sign Out appear on their PDA homescreen yesterday, or is it just being added to PDAs at certain locations? I can't say I noticed anyone else mention it on the threads yesterday. It's been made prominent by appearing before the Indoor and Outdoor icons that have always had poll position on the homescreen.
Does anyone think the icon has been added as another way to provoke the workforce and the CWU, as it smacks of a threat to bring it in via more executive action, without being agreed by the union.

More interestingly to me is the dashboard icon, showing some kind of “awards”, graphs, and a speedometer type dial.
This will be used to show the hours you owe them, whether you are achieving your delivery efficiency targets, and any attendance warnings you’ve had issued.

Re: Sign in sign out icon appeared on PDA homescreen
I didn't notice it on my PDA when I logged in yesterday, but there was something different on there when I logged out. I didn't really look at it too much.
Our union rep says that sign in/out has been agreed by the union and that it's in our best interests not to log in more than 5mins before or more than 5mins after our official start time and to log out no earlier than 5mins before our official finish time.
Don't leave your PDA idle either, if you finish really early come back to the office and scan 2D barcodes on RTS, redirected, retained items or whatever to show that your PDA was still in use as close to your scheduled finish time as possible.

Re: Sign in sign out icon appeared on PDA homescreen
Additionally, if you’ve SISO’d early, a list of work not covered in your office that day will pop up so that you can select what you’ll be doing to make up your time, eg ten parcels off walk 3, the idea being people will be “wanting” to do some lapsing so they don’t bank too many hours…
A manager will be able to input this work on the lapsing list via a PDA and the system will generate a predicted time to deliver, and allocate what fits to the time you have remaining.

Re: Sign in sign out icon appeared on PDA homescreen
The dashboard icon has appeared on MC logins as well. We've also got vehicles check on ours, don't know why because unless someone does collections, they've got no need for it. It's about time that RM split all the MC stuff from all the DO stuff on the PDAs, then the PDAs wouldn't have so much software to load each time. There's a few other new ones as well. One thing I believe that's going to be added to all our logins is the traffic recording appLaggyBand wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 09:22More interestingly to me is the dashboard icon, showing some kind of “awards”, graphs, and a speedometer type dial.

So does this mean as soon as you arrive for work you have to get in a queue 90 deep for your pdarobking wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 09:23I didn't notice it on my PDA when I logged in yesterday, but there was something different on there when I logged out. I didn't really look at it too much.

If there's at least 90 of you then possibly your office will be swiping in using your ID's or having at least oneMick100 wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 10:36So does this mean as soon as you arrive for work you have to get in a queue 90 deep for your pdarobking wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 09:23I didn't notice it on my PDA when I logged in yesterday, but there was something different on there when I logged out. standalone SISO setup at or near the 'signing in sheets' desk, so you don't all have to queue for your PDA's out of the locker
or wherever you get them from.

It replaced the of MIST system that's used to record how many of each stream have passed through the MC. Each stream has an ACF value (average container fill) so the traffic for a stream overall is the ACF x the number of yorks/sleeves/trays scanned for that streamted_e_bear wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 09:50What's that going to consist of ?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 09:33One thing I believe that's going to be added to all our logins is the traffic recording app

... and can you imagine how long you'd waste of your own time if you not only had to queue for your PDA, but then had to wait ages for it to log on to the home screen before you could even sign into work?yellowbelly wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 10:48If there's at least 90 of you then possibly your office will be swiping in using your ID's or having at least one

So the new system is going to use the barcode from your ID card. I had to wait a good year after I started to even get an ID card, despite submitting a passport sized photo when I accepted the job offer! What's going to happen to all the new starters in the last year or so who are still awaiting their ID cards? I'm sure someone said to me they'd started a few years ago but are still awaiting an ID card!
Has sign in sign out on the PDAs definitely been agreed by the union for Deliveries? I know there was a trial back in the spring in selected offices, just to test if it worked properly, but maybe I missed the announcement that it was being introduced for all with the union's full agreement. Although, as Royal Mail has given notice on various agreements, would the union be within their rights to block its full introduction?

1.In our DO everyone has been checked to ensure they have a valid ID. Anyone who doesn't (or never has had one) has been given one.goneaway wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 12:57

2.The advice from the CWU is that we engage with the new system, just as we engage with the current pen and paper system.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I believe the union are all for it so that people get paid correctly, also don’t work through your break as this will come up as an early finish, I can see the Royal Mail being worse off as more will cut off and hopefully stop coming in earlygoneaway wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 12:57... and can you imagine how long you'd waste of your own time if you not only had to queue for your PDA, but then had to wait ages for it to log on to the home screen before you could even sign into work?yellowbelly wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 10:48If there's at least 90 of you then possibly your office will be swiping in using your ID's or having at least one

Re: Sign in sign out icon appeared on PDA homescreen
Our office is very flexible with start and end times. I usually drop the kids and/or get stuck in traffic and I am often late, sometimes by an hour. No problem now, I finish later. Does this sign in thing mean I have to start on time? Some people say we do, some say not. Our manager is not sure. Anyone know? And I always take my break at the end as I don't want to stand around in a suburban street. Is that to stop too?
