Job ideas

Post by Lawrencepa2014 »

I feel like I’m going to need to take a pay cut to eventually earn what I do now or more. I have a few years experience at Royal Mail and some at a few other minimum wage type jobs. I’m a bit lost where to go from here. I want to work for a good employer with perks and earning 25k+. It’ll be tough having to take a pay cut and right now it’s not feasible. What have you lot got lined up or what’s your plan?

Some of the people at ours have gone on to deliver car parts or prescriptions. They like RM staff because we are generally good at finding places.

Supermarket delivery isn't too bad if you're unskilled.

It will have at least as good pay and T&Cs as a postie if RM get their way.

No way near the salary you want, but I left and am doing a warehouse job. Only £10 an hour but £390 a week isn't bad, it is temporary and there is a bonus for doing all hours in a week which takes it up to £11.20. But it is stress free, no weekends, decent bunch of people to work with, start and finish time are fixed (clocking in machine sees to that), no mouthy twats, no Billy Big Balls competition about who does the most, all indoors but plenty of air and exercise and a supervisor who thanks you for what you have done when you go home.

Train driver? Probably not a great job either but double what we earn and they spend a year training you so you could always use that year to have a good think about what you want to do long term?

Lawrence, try branching out to be a tree surgeon.

Or how about a window cleaner, people will look up to you.

Funnily enough, a chap in my office left to go self-employed as a window cleaner a few years ago and he's doing really well.

I can see that optician might be interesting but working on the bins is rubbish.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
