Scanning in tracked parcels…
We’ve been told at WTL today that from Monday 17th (next week) that we each have to scan in the tracked for our walk (and oversize) as it’s part of the new agreement. Anyone else hear this?

Been doing this for years, another one of those strange differences between offices across the country
"Never have I known an employee so keen to employ you, then so eager to get rid of you!"

We’ve been doing it for a few weeks now. The lasped walk next to me gets none of its tracked scanned for delivery.

Re: Scanning in tracked parcels…
We did it for a bit, but some of the PDAs lose battery too quickly (about 20 of them) so we currently have all trackers scanned in on a few PDAs that then get stuck on charge and given to the stragglers who pick them up on the way out the door

Did it for a bit then we didn't now we are again. Only found out when the workplace coach turned up and said none of my tracked were scanned and that I had to start scanning at the frame.

Re: Scanning in tracked parcels…
This is confusing
We don't get our PDA scanners from the specials locker until we get our van keys, box keys and specials - which is pretty much the last job to do before leaving.
Another little twist at local level i guess.

Is anybody scanning at a central point at your location first? If not and then you don't scan after the first 20/25 how do you
find out if there's any in-flt instructions such as delivery date change for those after the 20/25?

You're presuming anyone, from OPG to management, in their DO gives a rat's arse in this current environment.yellowbelly wrote: ↑12 Oct 2022, 17:23Is anybody scanning at a central point at your location first? If not and then you don't scan after the first 20/25 how do you

In our DO I'm noticing even some of the most mundane, fundamental tasks aren't being done properly or indeed at all. With the exception of the few usual runners, most seem to be drifting about in a fugue-like state with little or no direction.
Walks failing, no one cares, sick levels rising, no one cares, d2ds littered about everywhere apart from the frames they should be on...general apathy everywhere you look.
Our DO is like a football team where both manager and players have ceased giving zero f***s about what their tightfisted chairman is or isn't doing and are just going through the motions until someone on the board wakes up and demands some changes.
Sooner or later, a beat dog bites.

How does it save time?Chapperz2020 wrote: ↑11 Oct 2022, 19:20Told last week it would be happening soon, saves time apparently![]()
For arguments sake 1 person scans 100 parcels takes say 10 minutes.
10 people scanning 100 parcels (10 per person) takes 1 minute.
1 minute x 10 people = 10 minutes. Wheres the time saving it still took 10 minutes of time to do just spread across more people.

Re: Scanning in tracked parcels…
Hmm... they mean it saves overtime more like, we've got early IPS scanning trackeds so if that stops and they go to this method it'll save money, unfortunately it's the same old shite along with deliver to neighbour/collection on delivery/everything else extra added on but no extra time given to actually do it, obviously it won't be fair as some duties get loads more parcels than others do.Marshamp11 wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 18:01How does it save time?Chapperz2020 wrote: ↑11 Oct 2022, 19:20Told last week it would be happening soon, saves time apparently![]()

Re: Scanning in tracked parcels…
I'm surprised that manually scanning parcels in, is still a thing. In such a modern company like royal mail, you would have thought they could have solved this problem.
