UK's CWU Union to meet Royal Mail bosses to discuss pay
https://www.euronews.com/2022/10/07/bri ... royal-mail
UK’s Communication Workers Union (CWU) said on Friday it would meet with Royal Mail’s bosses on Oct. 10 in an attempt to resolve pay disputes, as the company remains locked in a costly standoff with employees.
“Following a number of conversations with CWU this week, Royal Mail and the CWU have agreed to meet on Monday to review where we are, and see if we can find a way forward,” a Royal Mail spokesperson said in an email.
Royal Mail, now known as International Distributions Services, has been in a tussle with the CWU over pay for months and has said it is losing 1 million pounds ($1.11 million) a day due to strike actions. On Sept. 27, CWU called for a further 19 days of strike against Royal Mail.
“Lack of innovative thinking from the Royal Mail Board is in effect leading to a loss of new revenue streams…..” the CWU said in an email on Friday.
Earlier on Friday, CNBC reported the Oct. 10 meeting citing a letter sent to postal branches across the country.

That statement is wrong " losing £1 million a day due to strike action" . Thought they were losing that before we started striking

Yep. They said £1M a day losses before IA and then strikes costing £10M in letters and £15M in parcels.
imvho, all these figures are debatable at best, lies at worst.
£10M in letters that are impossible to make money from. That's over £3Bn/year!!!

Yeah, but if you use all the income from letters to pay all the overheads, that leaves all the profits from parcels as our only source of profit. See, RM thinking.

When you give away £450 million to shareholders out of £650 million pre tax profit and award yourselfs 10% plus and hire vans and agency staff from Manpower who pay the people more than we all get. It is not hard to see why but they should open the books but if they did heads would be rolling down the steps of 185 Farringdon Road London EC1A 1AA.

Several brand new hire vans all not being used at my office. They have been in the same place for several weeks. No wonder RM say they haven’t got any money.

Exactly this is a corporate waste as an excuse for losing money so they can push their agender of fire rehire or just flat out going for broke bail out by the UK government. This stinks to high heaven someone is up to no good in the accountancy of the business or it is a government approved subjugation of workers rights PLC!Shirtbuttons wrote: ↑08 Oct 2022, 16:59Several brand new hire vans all not being used at my office. Re: UK's CWU Union to meet Royal Mail bosses to discuss pay
I’d give it decades given a worryingly large percentage of the population think we are the post office, own the post office, and are a public service. I think it was The Times the other week who had a headline saying ‘Post Office announce new strikes’ about us going on strike.
I find it absurd tbh, I don’t see people calling Amazon ‘Cadabra’ or Nike being called ‘Blue Ribbon Sports.’
We’ve apparently been separate from the Post Office since 2012 and were privatised in 2013, you’d think people would eventually catch on!
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Re: UK's CWU Union to meet Royal Mail bosses to discuss pay
The fact that RM keep spouting BS about there being no letters anymore really grinds my gears.
The last week we've been trying to clear the backlog from those two days of Strikes ... I have no problem with the consequences of the Strikes .... but it really brought home just how much mail we're still delivering.
The frames were creaking with the ammount of mail stuffed into the slots, plus Households. A lot of DPs had literaally Bundles of mail the size of a Telephone Directory. I took out 25% extra trays of mail. And we're just a Parcels Delivery Firm?
