Sickness absence is rising

Post by POSTPERSON50 »

We have 9 on long term sickness, 3 new today 2 with stress and back injury. 20 on the sick in total.

Only going to rise, and a lot of it is genuine. I'm seeing people who are ashen faced with worry and fear due to the current uncertainty.

Royal Mail forget that we have feelings, we're not some kind of robots who can just be expected to take all of this constant stream of bull*it they fire at us.

Honestly, I don't think we've had a month over the last 5 years without some sort of new bollocks hare-brained idea or half arsed plan being hatched by these numbskulls.

On top of the genuine sickness, what's now going to happen is people applying 'use it before you lose it' logic.

yip few off in ours with stress
all due to incompetent management (all running their own sections to suit themselves to detriment of office)
unequal workloads ,special deals for favourites , unrealistic expectations of others
im sure its the same all over

They aren’t granting any leave during the dispute either so that’s not helping.

Ditto at our office. Atmosphere around the place is terrible, with people just wanting a resolution one way or another. At least one person I know left because they just couldn't face the uncertainty anymore. Suspect a number can't afford to strike, so have got themselves signed off to negate that issue too.

I think most offices have around 10% ish off sick, we're all exhausted, walking round with injuries, I've had a lump on the back of my heel(is it my achillies?), since February /March, it's so painful, but it never gets any rest.

Yes it's the long term disputes that are the killer.
The norm is that a few strike days get the parties around the table to negotiate a compromise, but this one is ground breaking as the consequences to the loser of this battle are going to be fatal.

The other unique factor is that the current CEO is happy to see our business fked up forever just to prove his bulls*it need for modernisation.

There's no winner here. You can't put s*it like this back together.

Genuine question and I’m not having a go at you, just curious.

Have you thought about leaving Royal Mail and getting a different job?

If you don’t like it what’s the point of working in the job.

There are lots of other opportunities around.

Again, not a dig at you.
Be happy, life is short.

That same question gets asked in the news comments section all the time especially around the strikes along with "sack them all" for some people its more complicated to leave there's loads of variables like...how many times have they already moved, how long have they put in pensions,is the other job stable or even worse t&cs,am I gonna get better pay,or hours, should I risk upending my family if it doesn't work out, there's an ex postie just posted about a week ago that he just left RM and the job fell through after about three months so your talking like there's no risk involved or fear for that matter.
