Sealing post boxes
I’m sure when I was a kid in London during the ‘Winter of discontent’ that postboxes were sealed close during strikes. My partner says they were sealed sometimes during the IRA bomb campaigns for security reasons. Are we both wrong - or right

Both right.
Although we could probably strike for a couple of months now before the boxes I empty filled up.

I have over ten pillar boxes on my round (collection) and on Mondays three are usually almost full. Sure, one is basically inside a big supermarket, the second one is next to high street shops and offices and third one is next to an industrial estate. are usually pretty busy as well. That gives you 5 out of 10 pillar boxes that potentially can be affected. Don't assume every pillar box is not used based on your personal experience. If the strikes are timed correctly some pillar boxes can be overflowing if not sealed.

Depends on location, he never assumed that all
of them aren’t full, it was just a tongue in cheek comment. There are some post boxes on certain rounds which I’ve done which are literally full to brim everyday, others I’ve done in rural locations which have about 2-3 letters in them per month (no joke).
