It does make one wonder if Super Si has executive stress and needs to take a step back, some of the plans are a bit 'off' and dont seem to make sense.

Re: Has royal mail gone insane ?
Super Si has lost the plot with many proposals that might fail. Looking through all the proposals it looks like there is no plan apart from decimate our working hours, our freedoms of having time off when its bloody well needed at the end of the week.
This nonsense of working shorter and then longer in the winter does not suit the family person. Si does not care about the workforce it's all about how much can we take from our lifes as well as our pay packet.
Its disgusting the way he mentions 'team' to us in some of his videos because right now I don't feel like a team player.

He strikes me as a bloke crying out for help. He's obviously not a happy person within himself. Somethings gone wrong with this guy somewhere. Its all very strange.

cant agree more.the desire for money is the root of all evil.the more money they have the more money they want.it gets in the way of everything good.bosses,ceo’s,shareholders.they dont give a damn about us,just as long as they get richer and richer.its out of control

Re: Has royal mail gone insane ?
I agree with the sentiments here.
These narcissistic sociopaths like "Si" don't care one jot about the workforce, or service, or the public, or Royal Mail itself.
They care about one thing and one thing only: the accumulation of vast amounts of wealth for themselves. It's the only way they can validate their own empty existence.
If that means trampling on the lives of other people, then so be it. Nothing must stand in the way of them becoming even richer. We are just collateral damage.
See also: energy companies, water companies, rail companies, etc.

It's the fact they really are just going to drain the company of every last scrap of value and then take off leaving us 140000 looking for a new job. They have a viable business but they aren't bothered about the survival of the business long term they just want a quick buck. SCUM!!!!!!!!

Re: Has royal mail gone insane ?
All the money/ new investment from selling nationwide assets built up what was formerly a public (taxpayer funded!) service has been spent on parcels with different duties, ready and waiting to be split off (it's all coming out now, read Si's AGM threats) whilst the only investment on letters has been a shocking revision to suck more "efficiency" out of us.
They arnt even interested in letters as a product, despite the massive potential as demonstrated by the COVID test kits delivery. And you'll also notice a 1st class stamp went up 85p to 95p in APRIL, you'll never guess....an 11% increase! While we get 2%!

Re: Has royal mail gone insane ?
My major concern is spending considerable time delivering in the dark. It fills me with dread thinking about it. At our current start times a couple of bags are often done in the dark at Christmas and it's just horrid. Tripping and sometimes falling on uneven walkways. Struggling to read the mail from the glare of a torch leading to lots of mistakes. It also slows you down big time. Under their new bullshit start times and expanded deliveries because we've lost a handful of above shoe box sized oversize one side of a duty will be delivered entirely in the dark now that's just mind-blowing shitness. I'll do it if Thompson gives it a go first and reports back to us (his team). Surely they must try and test such proposals before putting them into practice. They're sadistic but not that sadistic surely. I WOULDNT BE SO SURE.

Re: Has royal mail gone insane ?
The main reason they have gone insane is....
The changes they want will force current workers to leave and recruiting anyone new on a poor wage, doing a 40 hour week in a very physical job which includes working a lot of Saturdays and Sundays, along with all the rest of it.....is going to be difficult.
They might get away with it if they had 25% of the number of staff they employ, but trying to maintain a sensible number of staff in a company of this size will be difficult. The company could be in dire straits if these changes came in as a mass exodus would be likely.
I think Simon actually thinks we'd carry on working for the company and people will stay because he believes we are all happy at the bottom picking up a measly wage and that we need to do it to feed our families. He thinks a £500 bonus is massive to us. He's wrong. It's all a pittance and workers are furious with it all.
