RMCtv : The allowances named

Post by POSTMAN »

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

We want to treat everybody more fairer. Except, of course, the new starters. They'll get paid less.

I'd find it hard to argue against getting rid of the postbus allowance tbf - theyve been gone for over 10 years

If the drivers who did that are still getting it now that is
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

My old office had a few where getting the allowance even though they hadn’t driven a truck for over 10 years. Apparently Royal Mail screwed up when they took away the 600s so they had to paid the allowance. I’m sure 600 drivers get paid the allowance in their basic pay now so could be unaffected but I could be wrong.

I get the PBS/ICS allowance it’s £1.88 a week. I would consider a £1000 tax free buy out.

I’m a MGV driver and our allowance is paid in our wages with no separate allowance reason if that makes sense(before tax and NI )

As an ex-PHG, I've always known that at some point in time they would come after it as part of a pay settlement.
To be fair it's been paid for over 20 years and there probably less than 1/2 of the original PHG's left.
If they are going to offer me lump sum of 2 years payment to buy it back then I'll vote for it.

But we're voting for potential IA on a no strings pay rise aren't we? Voting for a lump sum payment
in lieu of a legacy allowance is not on the ballot paper as far as I know.
