It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: RMCtv : Simon Thompson : The changes we need
Simon Says
As you are aware, this week we took the unusual step of increasing CWU grade colleagues pay by 2% with no conditions, which will be in July 2022 payroll.
We did this because we know people need their increase now and after almost two months of negotiations with the CWU on this year’s pay deal, including completing our mutually agreed Dispute Resolution Processes (DRP), we were unable to reach agreement.
We made an offer to the CWU of a package worth up to 5.5% this year for CWU grade colleagues; a 2% unconditional offer and we told the CWU up to a further 3.5% was available subject to us agreeing a series of changes and a new ‘above and beyond’ bonus.
The CWU rejected this offer and we have exhausted the discussions on pay.
However, we have scheduled further talks with the CWU next week to discuss the changes and we hope to make more progress with that. Our intention is to pay more – but to do that we need to agree the changes we need to pay for further pay increases.
What changes do we need as a business?
I know that many of you have been asking about the sort of changes we are looking for to transform our business and we have been keen to share that , but we wanted to speak with the CWU first. Now the CWU has listened to our proposals, we can start to share the detail with you.
In short, we're looking to discuss a number of initiatives that would change the way we work and set us up to be able to compete as a parcel company whilst still providing a great service for letters.
Finding out more about the changes we need
This is just the start of many conversations we will have on these proposed changes. We know this is a lot to take in all at once on things that could have a big impact on how we work. We will share more detail and give updates on our proposals as we progress through discussions on this with CWU.
We’ll share fact sheets on each proposed change to help you understand our thinking, and we’re planning to hold a number of Workplace Lives over the coming weeks to give you the opportunity to ask your questions directly. In addition, look out for briefings from your managers who will be out and about to talk through the proposed changes where you work.
We’ll post updates into a new group on Workplace – The change we need - and you can use #changeweneed to post your questions. We’ll monitor them regularly and answer those that are the most common, covering the key themes people are most interested or concerned about.
For questions that relate to your personal circumstances, we likely will not have the answer just yet. But speak to your manager who can help you understand the bigger picture and how things may affect you.
We appreciate that these proposals represent a significant shift in how we do things. We need to start to have conversations about the world we work in and what we need to do together to get us back to our best.
We are reinventing this British icon for next generations – thank you for playing your part.
Thanks,
Simon Thompson
Chief Executive Officer

If you read this Simon. You still don’t get it do you.
We wanted a PAY RISE not a deal….
The changes were already agreed in a legally binding document. You can’t keep altering agreements at the drop of a hat. It was a discussion on pay nothing else.

reduce lapsing
, and so in summer you have enough work everyday to finish on your time without lapsing or you still might go over your time then what ? would you still get paid o/t ? , and what would happen in Autum with his cunnting plan ? and would you still have a start and finish time ? and how would all these early summer hours be logged if posties are finishing early ? , this bloke is clueless as these revisions was suppose to sort the increase of parcels ie parcel dutys , but yet again no as the twats doing the revisions didnt have a clue . and still dont

We are not a parcel company
Letters are just as important
We are a service

Who would want to book leave by the hour? It's a pain in the bum already seeing your leave in hour and not days

If they insist on playing silly games with us I'll book my entire 222 HR allocation by the hour.pieoftheday wrote: ↑16 Jun 2022, 18:22Who would want to book leave by the hour? It's a pain in the bum already seeing your leave in hour and not days
I'll even take every second hour of my working day just to awkward.

Or put another way - I am f***ing you lot of plebs but don't have a f***ing clue how it will actually affect you. So go and speak to someone else who doesn't have a clue and they can fob you off.

Every time one of these disingenuous people in power starts speaking I can't help but focus on the absurd hand gestures they've probably been coached to do:
that thing they do with their hands
that thing they do with their hands

Re: RMCtv : Simon Thompson : The changes we need
Plus who decides if your duty is going to take an hour less in the summer, the duty I'm on this week has taken me the duty hours to complete, and the person who did it one day cut it short as they weren't going to complete. Simon seems to live in some dream world where duties are automatically shorter in the summer and longer in the winter, yet we have plenty of posties saying the revised rounds can't be completed.worktotime wrote: ↑16 Jun 2022, 18:06reduce lapsing, and so in summer you have enough work everyday to finish on your time without lapsing or you still might go over your time then what ? would you still get paid o/t ? , and what would happen in Autum with his cunnting plan ? and would you still have a start and finish time ? and how would all these early summer hours be logged if posties are finishing early ? , this bloke is clueless as these revisions was suppose to sort the increase of parcels ie parcel dutys , but yet again no as the twats doing the revisions didnt have a clue . and still dont
