No they want to stop the mail going on planes and put it on trains instead. It will get to the mail centres around 5 hours later than now so gets to us later obviously, Also has the benefit for the company that each walk can take lats out instead of being a dedicated duty.

These briefings are designed to focus the minds of anyone who may be considering voting no in the upcoming IA ballot.

You can decide for yourself how honest a briefing it actually is or whether it's an empty threat designed to push the union into a corner but a major change like that would require a complete root and branch redesign of the entire network from distribution to processing to delivery, the largest change ever seen in Royal Mail's history.

Royal Mail could not implement a series of minor revisions without it going tits up.

How do you think this would play out if it was a genuine threat?

Sorry, I was being facetious

I think whilst it will be the ultimate aim in a few years time from now, it will be phased in.
It's no co-incidence that these doomsday scenarios are being mooted when pay talks are ongoing.

For the record though, many in our unit would jump at the chance of a later start/finish.

Exactly that, they want to order it up to 12pm and have it delivered the next afternoon.

Nearly all our 25/30hr staff are on those contracts by choice so they can drop off and collect their children from school. Just shows again how out of touch and lack of consideration the business has towards their staff.

If you have kids, have a season ticket or are religious about working on a Sunday the business couldn't care less, it's about profit, more mail to deliver and whenever we say you're required to work.
