VR update

Just wondering if anyone knows of anyone that has OFFICIALLY been offered VR? Lots of hear says and rumours at my DO but nothing official, I've heard some offices haven't even been offered it yet?

Got to admit, I opened this hoping to read an actual update.

6 are going in my office and 4 have accepted already. Seems to be getting done on seniority a few who applied turned it down so it seems they are just going down the list.

49 applied so no doubt there’s no shortage of takers.

I an not expecting to hear anything until well into January. I was told by one of the senior managers that they first of all have to come up with some sort of plan for the MC going forward before they can decide who is or is not expendable. I was told by a colleague that about 300 people in the MC expressed an interest in VR, although I don't suppose all of them really want to go.

I actually didn’t know they could turn down a VR application. It’s odd to offer it up for volunteer’s and then say no.

So just as we already knew would be the case, even the modest VR packages being offered have been very heavily oversubscribed, indicating just how many people are ready and willing to leave the business if given the opportunity.

And yet the disingenuous and self-serving union will do it's best to deny those members the opportunity to leave the business by objecting to any reduction in the 6 day USO all in the name of supposedly ''protecting the service and preserving jobs''

We all know the union's real reason is they want RM to remain a lumbering, inefficient, labour intensive operation committed to offering a pointless and archaic 6 day letters USO because it doesn't want to see a reduction in it's own gravy train income from membership subs.

I’m curious. Why do You bother to come on here? If someone wants EVR the union can’t stop it. If it’s available and right for them they will get it surely?

I worked that out ten years ago. No postman wants to work Saturday. Should have been scrapped years ago but we were told it was to secure your job. Now they want Sunday working . We know it was to protect union membership numbers. Kept working Saturdays all those years while any new entrant was part time.
