RMCtv : Letter to Dave Ward urging CWU to directly intervene to end unacceptable picket line behaviours

Post by POSTMAN »

Letter to Dave Ward urging CWU to directly intervene to end unacceptable picket line behaviours

Today we have written to Dave Ward of the CWU to ask for his immediate and direct intervention to end the pattern of wholly unacceptable behaviours on picket lines across the country, including many incidents relating to CWU representatives.

Sadly, we have had more than 100 allegations of violence and assault, harassment, intimidation, threatening and highly abusive behaviour, criminal damage, and vandalism since the start of the CWU’s industrial action. Of those, 70 allegations involve CWU representatives, and 35 cases have now been reported to the police.

In addition, 20 CWU representatives have been suspended from work for incidents including extreme incidents like the headbutting of an employee, and employees being followed and filmed against their will in acts of intimidation.

Despite having written to the CWU on seven occasions highlighting unacceptable behaviours, after 12 days of industrial action, incidents are increasing and becoming more severe. Security is now being provided on picket lines where we have witnessed the worse behaviours to support colleagues.

You will have seen that more than 10,000 Royal Mail colleagues chose to work on each of the last two days of industrial action (30 November and 1 December 2022). We have a responsibility to those employees who choose to work during strike days to ensure they can do so safely and without risk of harm.

We have zero tolerance for bullying or harassment, and we will investigate every incident and allegation, taking swift action to discipline the individuals involved appropriately.

We have also written to the National Police Coordination Centre highlighting our concerns relating to conduct on picket lines and as part of an ongoing sharing of intelligence since the start of this dispute.

If anyone has any concerns and would like to report them in confidence so we can continue to make our workplace safe, please do report them to Speak Up by calling 0800 090 3154 or the Security Help Desk on 020 7239 6655. You can also access through the portal at www.royalmail.com/all-eyes-on-security.

Please reassure your teams that inappropriate behaviour is being dealt with and share this contact information with them.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Everyone needs to calm down and act responsibly..
Are we all adults or children and just keep in mind that police could get involved and stupid actions and behaviour could help them with headcount reduction ….

What about if you were handcuffed to an IPS frame sorting with your mouth but then a gaffer came to clear down a posties walk he was covering during a strike and you saw the key dangle from their neck as they leant over?

Think Dave needs to write back with how many Bullying and Harassment ACCUSATIONS there are against Royal Mail managers at the moment. Remember all these claims are not fact. Anybody can say anything, that doesn’t make it true.
