Redundancy preference exercise
Read that Simon Thompson is threatening to abandon the v r terms he gave us on the preference exercise app.Does anyone believe he will follow that through and just get rid of us for free ?

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
Would anyone be surprised ? Don’t think so. He seems to revert to threats when things are not going his way.

He can't win with that threat.
Take away the 6k and he nullifies the whole preference exercise playing into the union's hand who didn't want the thing to go ahead anyway. At the same time pissing off those members who may have hoped to have a way out.
Basically cancelling the 6k means he's lost all sense of perspective and control.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
I know somebody who works in a MC and he said they want 130 jobs to go . First to go will be volunteers followed by compulsory if not enough volunteers . When the obvious question was asked " How and under what criteria would people be forced to leave," there was NO answer. All the MC manager would say is we haven't decided yet .Another question was " If we're overstaffed why have we got casuals working in the MC. Stop them coming in and you have your 130". Again there was No answer . I mean, for christ sake if you're going to make these type of statements then surely any half decent management would have all their answers lined up . No bloody wonder the company is now losing so much money with these idiots running the show .

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
Hi
Slightly off topic
Been told that Statutory redundancy figure from the government does not apply to taking Voluntary redundancy.
Is this correct?
And will statutory be paid pro rata if part-time if it is available?
Thank you.

I wouldn’t take anything Thompson says on board to be perfectly honest.
It’s all veiled threats & non-truths

“Shorts,in this weather?!”
“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”
“What’s she been ordering now?”

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
Statutory redundancy pay is the minimum you're entitled to by law.
Voluntary redundancy is an amount your employer chooses to pay you, it has to be at least equal to statutory, but is often higher.
Both versions will be based on your actual pay, so being part time will usually mean a smaller pay out.
Check you statutory amount here: https://www.gov.uk/calculate-your-redundancy-pay

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
Does the 'X' amount of weeks wage you are entitled to from RM include delivery supplement?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
The guidance on the app says that assessable pay is used for working out VR figures.
Assessable pay includes basic pay and some allowances, but as far as I'm aware, delivery supplement is not one of them.
But don't quote me.....
The example pay slip they provided on the app is here:

If you're selected for VR, they will give you accurate figures in due course.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
I've applied and to be quite honest, I would go for the statuatory amount if that was all that was on offer, I just wish I knew the criteria for it, so many rumours.. they will get rid of the long term sick, only people crossing the picket line will get it... too many vacancies in our office so none of you will get it. If you believed any of those, nobody will get it.RobertT wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 12:23The guidance on the app says that assessable pay is used for working out VR figures.

Agree there are rumours aplenty but if your willing to cross the picket line I doubt they would be targeted for redundancy.surely the opposite.Surreypostie wrote: ↑25 Nov 2022, 13:39I've applied and to be quite honest, I would go for the statuatory amount if that was all that was on offer, I just wish I knew the criteria for it, so many rumours.. they will get rid of the long term sick, only people crossing the picket line will get it... too many vacancies in our office so none of you will get it. It's a no-brainer for me as I have a long term plan to leave RM in 2023 anyway, and a pay off would do nicely thankyou.
I'd obviously prefer as much as possible and I'm not getting my hopes up because after 30 odd years in the job I know only too well how these things work in RM.
But for me, anything would be a bonus.

Re: Redundancy preference exercise
Our senior manager & union rep are actively awaiting the response from ST to grant all eligible applicants within our function & dread the thought of being told X amount to go & Y amount of hours to be shelved.
Who knows where we’ll end up
Ps
Good luck to everyone who’s applied & keeping their fingers crossed
